I stayed at Matilde B&B on my way over to the eastern end of the island to see the rice terraces, and while the area itself is nothing special, it's a great place to stop off for the night. I arrived quite late but the staff was there to greet me when I arrived and take my breakfast order for the next day. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed, and I had a great night's sleep. Breakfast was amazing, it was so nice to be treated to some traditional Filipino things like champorado and longganisa! Angel was a lovely person to talk to as well and made me feel so welcome, thank you! :)

The location of the house indeed is just near the hills, though limestone hills are actually scattered around the island. There are several hangout places in the house such as the living room, dining room and even the terrace which are very suitable for a group of, say, seven people or so. Solo and group travellers can take advantage of the other services offered by the host. A tip: you may ask the host for suggestions on the 'hidden gems' of the island as the host can also be hired as a local guide. You can also rent a motorcycle from them or even ask them to go on a trip using their pick-up truck, for a fee.

Fely is very kind and helpful. She helped organizing everything we needed and made our stay even better. The location is also great, e.g. if you want to see the sunrise on the Chocolate Hills

Such a unique stay! It’s definitely rustic but if you don’t mind being close to nature and outdoor showers then you will love it here. The vibe is great and easy to meet people, especially through the family breakfast and dinners which are so delicious! Staff are very kind and helpful. I rented my first scooter here, shout out Steve for showing me how to drive! I did a guided day tour, sunrise hike overlooking the chocolate hills and a cooking class through the hostel which were all great!

Odelia is probably the best host we had in a whole month in the Philippines. And this is a good place to stay to explore not only the Chocolate Hills, the whole Bohol island. One good thing of this place is that no matter how hot it gets during the day, it always chills a bit at night, unlike by the sea.

Good to stay one night, the hut is very simple but convenient, has a fan and a couple of electric outlets. They gave free coffee and bananas for breakfast. The staff was friendly.
