Lovely stay with a lovely family on Amantani. The room had a comfy bed, heating and a hot shower which was amazing for Amantani. The family were lovely and provided delicious meals. The location was great for us, close to the Plaza de Armas and a short but hard walk to the top of the island.

Our stay on Amantani Island was one of the most memorable experiences of our travels in Peru. We were warmly welcomed by Josè Luis, who made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Pilar, the wife, is an incredible cook—every meal she prepared was delicious, fresh, and made with so much love. Sharing meals with the family and enjoying their traditional dishes was one of the highlights of our stay. The family’s kindness and hospitality were unmatched. They shared stories about their life on the island and taught us about their customs, making our visit both enriching and heartwarming. Despite the simplicity of life on Amantani, their warmth and generosity made us feel like we had everything we needed. If you’re visiting Puno and looking for an authentic, cultural experience, I highly recommend staying with a local family on Amantani Island. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with the community, enjoy amazing food, and create lasting memories. Thank you to our wonderful host family for this unforgettable experience!

Isla (island) Amantaní and Taquile are both very remote, about a three hour boat ride from Puno, But I would highly recommend going for a very unique and traditional experience with a Peruvian family. When you book a tour, they usually take you to both islands, but an overnight with a family on Amantaní. I would recommend two nights because it is far and then you have time to fully relax and enjoy the community!! It was also fun to stay in the home with other travelers, four other people from three different countries in Europe! We hiked to the top of the island for sunset where there is a beautiful memorial/ worship site for Pachamama (Mother Earth). Also, the food prepared in our home was very delicious.😊

This is the most peaceful place on earth.

This is the most peaceful place on earth. The island offers the most sacred experiences. We spent two nights there, eat completely organic food from the garden, our host was amazing. If you want an authentic Lake Titicaca experience, this is it. Their 11 year old son took us to the fountain of youth, the Pachamama and Pachatata temples on top of the mountain. We had a wonderful experience with a local Shaman. This place is well cared for, host and family are the most loving people, sharing their lifestyl with their guest. There are no cars on the island, you walk everywhere. The boat ride to their place was breath taking as it is on the south side of the island, very private and quite.
