We had a wonderful stay and loved the view – watching the surfers and the setting sun! The staff is really lovely and accommodating, they welcomed us in the early hours after a long bus ride and allowed for a late checkout.

A lovely couple run the hostel, it was clean, WiFi worked perfectly and it was right in front of the ocean. They had a rooftop terrace where you can cook and relax and they gave you your own kep to enter the building.Plenty of stores and restaurants nearby and was very affordable.

I can recommend it to anyone looking for a chilled and uncomplicated atmosphere.
I (traveling alone, 26 yrs) booked 5 days and stayed 32 days. It's a Vipe in this hostel, where I really liked it. Everyone is super helpful and nice. If there is anything, just let Randal know and it will be sorted. They are straightforward with check in and out. If you have a late night bus, you can easily go surfing again beforehand and then take a shower (remember wearing flip-flops). I rented my wetsuit and surfboard at the hostel. They can give you lots of tips for activities or even organize a safe cab. They look after you.
There is a cute fat cat, Lola, who also lives there and Marie makes sure the hostel is clean. You can also have your laundry washed for little money.
The included breakfast is great.
In general, the food in the restaurant is cheap, fresh and delicious.
During the time I was there, I saw some renovation work being carried out and also the replacement of the fridge and seat cushions in the lounge. They are constantly trying to make improvements, which I find very positive.

This is a really nice small hostel. The kitchen is well equipped the bathrooms are clean and the rooms as well and the wifi is working well as well. Since they also run a surf school and many things are run by volunteers (greetings to Margaux, you did great job) you will most probably meet many enthusiastic surfers, which is great!
Really recommended stay in Huanchaco.

Huanchaco is a cute and safe place and a good place to base yourself in the Trujillo area - it is way safer than Trujillo and has incredible food to boot. Be sure to try the parihuela and ceviche at one of the many seaside restaurants. Huanchaco is also home to the caballitos de totora - a continuation of a pre-Columbian tradition of reed boats. Chan Chan is nearby and it's a straight shot to Huaca el Brujo.

It's definitely not a small surf town like I thought, it's much bigger than expected with a bit of a nightlife. Many three-story bars and restaurants, many cute markets, but the real shopping is located in Trujillo (a half hour bus ride away). Despite the busy streets and many pedestrians, huanchaco maintains a very chill vibe. The beaches aren't great for relaxing or swimming but perfect for surfing. It's a really beautiful vacation destination, safe for the family and for solo travellers as well of all ages. I'd definitely recommend a visit !

A nice hotel with a great location in the Huanchaco seafront. The room was comfortable, clean and the view amazing. Daniela was very helpful and went above expectations to ensure I had a pleasant stay (allowed early check-in, booked a tour to Chan Chan, organized taxi, wrote to wish me a nice trip after I checked-out), and the whole staff was friendly. Service is excellent. WiFi was good.
The hotel is located within walking distance to the main sites in town, and there are nice cafes close by.
I enjoyed my stay there.

Really recommended stay in Huanchaco.
An oasis of calm and comfort at the right end of Huanchaco Beach. One minute from the sea, one minute from where the bars and restaurants begin...but you never hear a thing. Elwin and Gabriel really took care of us in their wonderful retreat! Relaxing pool area and beautifully clean. Great hot showers always. We booked for three days and stayed for seven!
The hotel is located opposite the ocean shore with a nice view from the hotel restaurant upstairs. The staff were friendly and very helpful and the room was always clean and tidy when we returned. The restaurant served a very nice breakfast and the staff were super accommodating. Room service was prompt as well.
