the wooden house choquequirao, hotel in Abancay

The wooden house choquequirao is offering accommodations in Cachora.

We stayed at the Wooden House the night before our 4 day trek to/from Choquequirao, which we did without the help of a tour company. Our stay at the Wooden House was an unforgettable experience, marked by exceptional hospitality and unparalleled assistance. The host's efforts went above and beyond, making our stay not only comfortable but also incredibly convenient and memorable. The Wooden House felt incredibly serene and private, with a surrounding wall and gate leading into a wide grassy garden space with cheerful flowering plants. There was outdoor elevated seating with rooms underneath, a main house with showers, sinks, and bathrooms, all nestled among stunning mountain views. Everything was impeccably clean. The private rooms at the Wooden House were very comfortable, equipped with a cozy double bed and a small table. We arrived late, and the host graciously provided hot water for our dehydrated meals. The room was spotless, warm, and had Wi-Fi available. The morning we set off, our host prepared for us a delicious breakfast of coffee, tea, bread, and scrambled eggs, and then we took a taxi (which she helped us arrange) to Capuliyuc to begin our trek. The host’s dedication to ensuring our trip went smoothly was remarkable. Most people head to Cachora from Cusco, but we were coming from/returning to Ollantaytambo. She arranged fair-priced cab rides from Ollantaytambo to Cachora and back, as well as a taxi for our early morning trip from Cachora to Capuliyoc. Despite our delays, she remained patient and helpful. She was easy to communicate with over WhatsApp. She displayed professionalism and kindness throughout, making our non-tour-company trek feel well-supported. We would love to revisit and spend more time at Choquequirao, and without a doubt we would choose to stay at the Wooden House again. The host's amazing hospitality and willingness to go out of her way meant so much to us.

The mercado of Abancay is super nice, liked it better than the ones I found in Cusco. Got some cheese i had never tried before and some mote as a present there. The people I met were really kind and the place were I stayed was just perfect (hostel Chusay). Wanted to go to Ampay Wildlife Sanctuary but it seemed too expensive (30 soles the entrance for foreigners, and 20 soles for a cab to the entrance)

I went to Abancay for a tour of Pampachiri, but when I got there a bit late due to my delayed bus there were no travel agencies to be found anywhere to help me make other plans. People at the busstation were also not helpfull at all in helping me find either other nice things to do or just transport to Pampachiri. I was there on a sunday, so most of the places were also closed. I ended up climbing the nearby mountain just to fill my day. The views on top were quite nice though.
