Eclypse de Mar Acqua Lodge, hotel in Cajun Cod

Enjoy the captivating environment of our eco-resort, which offers a harmonious blend of comfort, services and memorable experiences. We are committed to preserving the environment and biodiversity.

This place was paradise. Truly! Special shoutouts to Nico and Rashima and also to all of the other staff whose names I didn't catch for their incredible service. My friends and I had been wanting an overwater bungalow experience and this exceeded all expectations. The hospitality was the best of our trip (and the bar was already quite high!), the food was fresh and delicious, and we were so grateful to have such a beautiful spot to call home to relax into. Kayaks and SUP boards are available to explore at no charge, there's a guided nature walk on the property, and lots of space to relax or grab a drink. Other reviews mention loud music at night - we had no issues at all and didn't hear anything at all (it was super quiet!) although we did stay on a Sunday and Monday off-season. The cabin itself was adorable and very clean, and kept surprisingly cool with the fans (we didn't miss the air conditioning!). Old Bank is accessible from this spot (from which you can head over to Wizard Beach or others), but please note that the 10 min walk is a bit rustic, I wouldn't recommend planning to bring all of your bags or any suitcases. Otherwise, from Eclypse de Mar it's a quick 15ish minute water taxi back to Bocas town, which reception was helpful to arrange.

The Lodge at Punta Rica- Hilltop Eco-Lodge with Views & Pool, hotel in Cajun Cod

The Lodge at Punta Rica- Hilltop Eco-Lodge with Views & Pool is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Bastimentos where guests can make the most of its pool with a view, private beach area, and...

Brian and Dan simply understand true hospitality, comfort, relaxation and fun, which they offer their guests in a very genuine way, cause it's simply who they are. It started with a welcome cocktail and our room and all the other areas were amazing. They thought of every detail to provide happiness and comfortness, like fresh flowers everywhere, drinking water in your room and sufficient fresh linnen, including towels for the swimming pool. And, oh my ..., that pool! Perfect! So refreshing and right in the middle of floroushing nature. Trees, flowers and cute little frogs in all kinds of colours. They provide everything completely off grid, eco, with full respect of nature, without losing convenience. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious, as was diner. Since Dan is a chef and simply knows what is good, when and where. In our case: first two coffees, then slowly ready for breakfast ... ;-) And the desert creme brulee deserves a bigger than big recommendation! This place felt like arriving home, without the worries, work and obligations you have at home. So comfortable, at ease and relaxed, but also so much fun and taken care of, without having the feeling anything is too much for anyone. In full liberty and happiness everything happens and goes. It all feels like go with the flow. Also: we went to Bibi's on the beach and Coquitos Beach with Brian and Dan (Sunday Funday! :-)...), where we enjoyed cocktails, live music, great people of all sorts, and good pizzas. And they arranged a hiking and snorkling trip for us with Junior, to Old Creek and back, which was truly amazing as well (beautiful spots, fresh fruits and sashimi straight out of the ocean!). These people know how to treat you and make you feel, like you are on a holiday, with áll your senses! :-)

I truly loved the Island of Bastimentos of which I stayed.

I truly loved the Island of Bastimentos of which I stayed. I did long walks along the island and I also hiked right through the middle of the island to get to Wizard beach. It's a gem that's unspoiled and untouched by droves of tourist. I hope it stays that way. However, I have one big issue with this Island called Bastimentos that was heart breaking for me. There was entirely too much garbage strewn along the edges circulating the island. They need a major litter clean up campaign by this community. It was a turn off for such a beautiful Island with beautiful people. Entirely to much garbage like plastic bottles, cans, glass bottles, old cloths, bags, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I don't know if it's washed up by the sea from neighboring islands or thrown there by the community. It's highly visible and can ruin visitors coming here if they don't clean it up. I can only hope this matter of pollution is addressed. All the best Bastimentos.
