Brilliant staff and fantastic location on top of the dunes. Authentic accommodation, not too overdeveloped which makes you feel properly in the desert. You can drive yourself if you have 4WD, and the final dune climb up to camp is an excursion in itself

Desert Private Camps - Private Bedouin Tent, hotel in Shāhiq

Desert Private Camps - Private Bedouin Tent is located 12 mi inside Wahiba Desert in located between beautiful sand dunes , for spectacular sunset and sunrise view.

if I could give a score of 15 I would. Our host was wonderful from start to finish. We got excellent directions, when we arrived his son showed us where to park. Our host then met us and we had drinks and fruit and relaxed for a few minutes. We then went on a sunset camel ride up the dunes - highly recommended. He then took us to the camp site - and even drove our car up the dunes for us. We relaxed for a while and then he brought us a delicous dinner. It was quite windy and chilly so we appreciated the warm tent and comfortable bed with good quilts to keep us warm. The bathroom was nearby, with a flushing toilet and a sink and shower. In the morning we had fun climbing the dunes to watch the sunrise, and then enjoyed a delicious breakfast with Badr's two adorable girls helping him to serve. He then helped us drive out of the dunes. It was one of the highlights of our two weeks in Oman, I would recommend it to anyone as a very authentic Bedouin experience.

Desert Private Camps -ShootingStar Camp, hotel in Shāhiq

Desert Private Camps -ShootingStar Camp has 2 Double door tents with a seating and dining area and 1 bathroom with a shower.

We had a wonderful time. We chose to spend one night here and one in a different kind of accommodation in Wahiba Sands and it was perfect that way, exploring different aspects and views of the desert. The drive is a bit adventurous, however we felt safe as we had a guide to reach the camp from Bidiyah who helped us when we got stuck with our car. The camp is truly on top of the dunes. If may not be the best one if you want to do lots of sand boarding as the individual dunes are not that high but the view is amazing. The food we had was one of the best in all our Oman trip!

Perfect choice if you want a small comfortable camp, with basically nothing to do...no wi fi or buggies.... although they will arrange dawn or dusk camel rides (approx £15) and I think "dune bashing" which we saw, but did not do. The dawn camel ride escorted by a Bedouin was etherial and great experience, highly recommended. Food was "basic" but excellent and tasty. Sultan tent was very comfy with good bathroom, shower and HOT water! You need a 4 x 4 to get there as its about 15km from main road and we would recommend spending 30 OMR for their escort to come and initially meet you at the gas station on main road. Once you have made the journey you can easily navigate it again, but its quite isolated so the escort was reassuring. All staff very welcoming and helpful. Recommend 2 night stay, one is not enough!
