Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed - we both slept well. Surprisingly quiet considering it's on State Highway 1 - we didn't hear much traffic noise. Good free wifi. good value. While the property could do with a paint job to freshen up - it didn't worry us as the property was clean and comfortable.

Very clean place. Having a hard and a soft pillow each was good. The mini fridge, jug, microwave and tea and coffee provided were a nice touch. Shower pressure was amazing, almost painful. Since we're introverts, we really appreciated the privacy, hosts didn't coming to chat us up, though they would have been in the flat below if we had needed anything. Very clear instructions on how to get in etc. Beautiful view (though unfortunately there's a tree in front of the mountain, not that the hosts could do anything about that). Nice spot overall.
Snowman Lodge and Spa is centrally located in the town center of Ohakune which is the gateway to Ski Ruapehu, Turoa, Whakapapa and the famous Tongariro National Park.

Staff were nice and very helpful. Comfortable bed. Good bathrooms.
Location was good, quite.
Cafe/eatery at southern end of town would benefit from better customer service.
Food overpriced but ok for satisfying hunger.
Public toilets clean and well maintained.

Whole town needs a good lick of paint. Needs to make more of its opportunities. Has huge amount of traffic, but to be honest, not much street appeal. You wouldn't stay unless you were there for a purpose. Such a shame

The town seems run down but it suited us to stop for the night as everywhere else that was a reasonable price was booked out.
We had our own food and arrived late as we'd driven up from the ferry in Wellington so it was great to have a motel with a kitchen.
Didn't visit anywhere as we left early next morning.

Small but quaint town. Absolutely loved staying here.. Has everything you need for a night or 2. Conveniently located. The Italian place has the best huuuuuge meals for a great price. The pub was lacking staff, so no food but still nice to get a beer and a game off pool. Plenty to do and see in the area and lots of exploring to be had especially with an off road vehicle.

Waiouru is an isolated area with average eateries except for one , Rustic, which is great but not open when we went there.
We ate at a greasy spoon which gave us plenty of food was called Italian Pizza and restaurant.
We were on an overnight on the way to the cook straight ferry.
Easy to walk around Waiouru.
What wouldn’t we do, we wouldn’t stay at the Roadside Motels again.
