This is a place to get away from many things but not all. The lake offers swimming, boating, walking, fishing and you probably need to bring your own gear. There are any number of tramping trails in Tongarira NP. Quite a mecca for trampers.

Basically you are there for the Tongariro crossing, which takes a day. You can also spend another day there walking or rafting the Tongariro river, But without a car there is not much more you can reach.

We did the kids trout fishing at the National Trout Centre and that was great! Not a great selection of food in Tūrangi for dinner, we ended up buying prepared from the grocery store and bringing it back to our accommodation. We were only there two nights, but it is a great launching point for more river, lake, and mountain activities. Could easily spend a lot longer.

Good golf course. Great breakfast at the Hydro Cafe. We stayed at the Tongariro lodge which was great. Nice scenery. Nice walking along the river where we saw a fisherman actually catch a trout. He said a prayer to the fish and put it back in the river. Overall a very nice stay.

Peaceful and quiet place to stay after our trip to Mt.
Peaceful and quiet place to stay after our trip to Mt. Ruapehu. The motel is also conveniently located near the New World, gas stations and takeaways. It is also less than an hour drive to Taupo district which is a bonus stop over. :)

We like to book the Comfort Apartments as they are like home away form home. The fridge freezer, washing machince and drier are particularly handy when staying more than one night. The heat pump works well as does the shower with a good water flow. The beds are comfortable with electric blankets for these cold nights. The motel is walking distance to Turangi shops. There is a cafe takeaway across the road from motel.
This motel is a wee gem close to Turangi. From the outside it looks old, but as soon as you open the room door it is lovely clean facilities with modern decor. The hot pools are a bonus (no extra cost) and open 24/7. Certainly loved our stay and will call again.
We stayed two nights here during school holiday. The room is very clean and super comfy. I will rank it on the top B&B in Turangi with a very reasonable price. Luckily, we may be the first guest to use the new cedar hot tub. Highly recommended.
A clean motel with comfortable beds.Adequate facilities and close to Turangi township.A lovely friendly lady showed us to our unit.Very good value for money.E
