Even though we arrived a little early the managers allowed us to check in which was amazing as it was starting to rain and for us to get into our accommodation was wonderful for us. The room was great and the instructions on how to use the appliances was really a great extra.

The AMBERS Accommodation was fabulous, it had everything that we needed for our stay, all the breakfast supplies were there from the yoghurt to the cereals, milk, toaster with bread and all the condiments too. The beds were very comfortable as was the lounge area TV was ok lovely gardens and the hosts Sue and her Hubby, were very accomodating, nothing too hard for them.
The area had a number of attractions including the old gold mine. Lots of shops in the town. Just a great little place to spend a few relaxing days. We highly recommend a visit to Thames and look at staying at The Ambers, its well worth it..

Thames is a quiet town with quite a few coffee shops and a good variety of stores to browse. The supermarket (Pack & Save) was close to where we were staying. There are several locations close to Thames that are worth a visit The Gold mine just north of town Cathedral beach and the hot water beach are worth the time to check out. A scenic drive up to Coramandel town is interesting. Just be careful on the narrow sea side road. Enjoy

Didnt know which cafe to choose, but this one had a lot of people in it, so we chose this one.Hot chocolate cafe. The big breakfast and the pancakes were delicious. Quaint, busy little township, just caught the tail end of the market. We stumbled on another cafe further up, which sold this devine louise cake & caramel wheaty slice. Yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed the Nakontong Thai restaurant for dinner too.
We really enjoyed our stay at Fantail Hill. The hosts were very accommodating and even let us check-in earlier. They also let us use their barbecue.
What we liked best was the view from the rooms and the terrace and also the fact that everything was really clean.
It was the perfect place to start our New Zealand trip.
Location was great- close to town, but nice and quiet
Hosts go above and beyond and have many tips for a wonderful stay, including where to eat and what to do
Looking forward to going back when we are next in New Zealand
