I absolutely love the location!! The resteraunt has decent food as we had breakfast included, but the ability to cook when we needed to was such a good bonus with a handy kitchen.

The Acacia motel is an absolute gorgeous gem! Kudos to the owners. The view is stunning, and the place was very quiet and peaceful when we stayed. The pool is awesome! It makes the place extra special, I reckon, who doesn't love a pool, also, the sun heats the water so, you could sit in it all day if you wanted to. Our hosts were so lovely and easy to chat to. We were given an upgrade, and our lovely cozy room, #8, was just perfect for the two of us. Yes, a basic room, but it was clean, smelled, and looked amazing upon first arrival. The bedding was fresh and smart looking. Also, thank you so much for accommodating us with our vehicle. We appreciated it! Last but not least, the wee little Mongonui town is just a hop skip n jump to get to by car or walking, so another great reason to stay there. We ate at the fish n chips takeaway 2x, the one in the corner by hotel, mmMMM.. THANK you to the Lil whānau running it. You guys gave us wicked meals. We will definitely be back!

The icing on the cake was the bbq dinner with the spa at the end of the evening was so magical. Please pass on our regards to Frankie and Sue. Taipa has the lovely resort and beach, but there is not much else. However, Taipa is part of a gorgeous stretch of coastline including Cable Bay, Coopers beach and Mangonui. Within a few kilometers you have all the amenities you need, plus local attractions and shopping. There is the Famous Mangonui Fish shop over the water, a couple more lovely cafes, places to buy local art and craft, a walkway and pa, a picaresque harbour and opportunities to get out on the water. Go!

Overall, Taipa Resort is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to unwind in a beautiful setting while enjoying a variety of amenities and activities. I had a list of concerns with the room and sent an email to the reservations team requesting a response so that we could negotiate a reasonable outcome but no one bothered to respond. The room was not up to standard and the staff were not overly welcoming. The swimming pool area looked like it was open to the general public and didn't feel safe for the children. Would not recommend staying here with young children or a family.

Quiet and relaxing as Taipa is on the outskirts but close to...
Quiet and relaxing as Taipa is on the outskirts but close to everything including the pretty Cable Bay, Coopers beach, Mangonui and Karikari peninsula. We drove here after a daytrip from Ahipara to Cape Reinga, got groceries in Kaitaia and made ourselves the yummiest BBQ with scotch fillet, fresh fish, mussels, prawns and salad. What we couldn't eat we packed for lunch the next day in our chiller bag. Lots of small eateries around and the Mangonui hotel has snapper burgers with runny eggs if not wanting to cook.

Room was quite nice and spacious, nice view out to the beach. Restaurant food was nice but waitress was not familiar with the menu so lacked that finesse of service. Pleasant surroundings overall and easy parking. Beach was just across the road and a pleasant beach to walk along. Beware of dogs on the loose as I was bitten by one at the western end of the bay as I walked past it.

The location was perfect, everything at the Taipa Coastal Retreat was amazing. I would absolutely recommend if you are looking for somewhere peaceful, clean, quiet, great price, then this is the place for you. You will not be disappointed.
Taipa Resort is always my first choice when staying in the far North. Staff are lovely, facilities are great, food is tasty and the surroundings are magnificent. And it’s so well priced. I’ll be back!
