Take food and drinks with you if you can, I was fleeced $23 for six pack of Monteiths at the local Convenience store / cafe / petrol station. Beautiful location, not many options for accommodation, and can be pricey. Some good hikes and walks but not much else barring the amazing lakes

There's a lot to do in and around Saint Arnaud, we spent our time swimming in the lake (and dodging sandflies) and listening to the birds and admiring the view. There's hiking and boating that can be done here which we didn't have time to do.

the jetty. Very good facilities!

This is an amazing alpine & lake area for outdoor activities like tramping & fishing & mountain biking & boating & alpine climbing- trekking.
Also a local skifield near by.
A great Alpine lodge & restaurant is available in a quiet village environment.

We should have stayed 2 nights to have more time mountain biking and taking advantage of the walks. The lake is also beautiful for paddle boarding or relaxing in the beach. It’s one of the most beautiful parts of the country and we didn’t have issues with sandflies either!
