Definitely not 4.5 stars. Spartan room. In the parking lot for a bar and restaurant. Smelled musty. Bedspread was stained. We took a look around and found a different place to stay for the night. Would not recommend.

The area is beautiful, the beach and the lake.
The area is beautiful, the beach and the lake. There is free camping at the lake by the way. I would do that next time. I ate at the Mahinapua Hotel however most of the time the kitchen is closed. What I had was basic. I would recommend Fat Pippi's pizza for whitebait fritters. That would be my next choice. I would avoid the Mahinapua Hotel on my next visit.
