We're always looking for something different and this immaculately restored and refitted ex hospital staff property from 1949 fit the bill. We had great accommodation looking right out to the sumptuous gardens filled with birdsong on ground floor; and yet it was very quiet and peaceful. Since that night we were the only people in that side of the building we were advised we could close the door to the end of the wing making it a double with bathroom and 2 extra rooms, which we didn't use of course but, it felt spacious and luxurious. It was very comfy, with plenty of couches and a throw, TV and everything you needed to really relax with a beautiful view to the lawns, flowers and trees. They also have a really interesting collection of old timey medical/hospital stuff decorating the halls here with historical pictures/info on the property and nice vintage furniture/accessories. Sparkling clean, neat and tidy. You can tell it is well maintained, we were allowed a late check out too and before we had completely vacated a handyman was in there fine-tuning some things. Bonus was my cousin was working there and she saw my name in the guest register and waited to meet me which blew my mind. We decided it was our best pick overall for accoms on our West Coast trip. It was about the little extras, just thinking of your guests takes no effort but was that which propelled it to great customer experience.

Cute little ex mining town steeped in history, great for vintage/collectible shopping. Be warned everything powers down by 8 pm for the most part, even on weekend nights. If you need food and groceries make sure to organise this by early evening because it's all over by 8.30 pm and I mean EVERYTHING is shut.

Reefton was a gorgeous old fashioned colonial feel town.
Reefton was a gorgeous old fashioned colonial feel town. The shops were cute and one-offs, Dawson’s Hotel served us a great dinner plus coffee earlier in the day. Visited Reefton Distillery which I recommend. Had morning tea at Broadway Cafe the day we left - wow! Incredible hot chocolate and cake. We arrived at 11.30am and by the time we left the queue was nearly at the door.
Reefton Hardware is worth a visit just for a banter with the girls - but do look around inside too!
Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming.
We pretty much walked everywhere - so easy to find everything. Next time we want to try the new pizza place - and we are already planning another trip…

Noisy, probably due to been almost fully booked.
Noisy, probably due to been almost fully booked. No one available for check in. Keys set out with names on a table. Didn't see staff for my entire stay. Security a concern for me as anyone could access the building

A fantastic Bed and Breakfast right in the middle of Reefton. Super friendly hostess, and lots of lovely details to make your stay comfortable. Love the extras in the kitchen, and ability to use the courtyard and tv lounge. And breakfast was yummy too!
The place was perfect for us. It was neat and clean and everything we needed were there. It has a welcoming vibe and we will definately stay there again in future. We found our home away from home in Reefton.
A beautifully restored early NZ quality home - we will be talking of our stay in this home, in Reefton, for years to come - both our selves ( Bay of Islands NZ) and our family members from Greece.
Wonderful little hotel with amazing staff. Excellent shower, toasty warm room and super comfy bed. A an absolute added bonus being able to do a load of washing.
