The location was great for our visit to Cape Reinga. While smoking was allowed, we are non-smokers and we didn't notice any residual smoke smell from previous tenants who may have smoked. Lots of space for the two of us.

This is such a beautiful and homely little lodge! I really loved my stay here. The hosts were super friendly and the facilities were great- every little detail was thought of to ensure a comfortable stay.

Nice laid-back place way up North, with friendly people everywhere. The shops are clean and well-patronised, saw a couple of locals take off their gumboots at the entrance, woww! The ambience of Pukenui and it's residents reflected the calmness of Houhora Harbour, and respect for the environment. The fishing with Rob Parker of Houhora Fishing Charter was superb, relaxed and "real". If you want great fishing on the water then this is a must stay place! It's a easy pleasant trip up to Cape Reinga from Pukenui, beautiful white sand beaches are accessible all up the top of Te Tai Tokerau/Northland NZ. We'll be back!!

The surrounding beaches and bays are beautiful and great for fishing and diving. The people in the neighbours and community are friendly and welcoming and a neighbour shared with us the attractions and local markets. We went to the Twilight Market at the Houhora Heads and enjoyed browsing at the stalls. We went to the Ninety Mile beach, Cape Reinga, Henderson Bay for a spot of diving and visited Taipa and other surrounding towns.

Pukenui was a really cute township.
Pukenui was a really cute township. It had everything you needed for a beach break - incredibly well stocked Four Square, chip shop, restaurant, bottle shop. Driving distance to some spectacular beaches, Cape Reinga lighthouse, the amazing and fun sand dunes & some beautiful clifftop walks and reserve walks.

Breakfast was a lovely touch on arrival, place is clean and freshly plunged coffee in the mornings was a bonus, we ate the local takeaways which was fine and the Paua pies place was awesome, the hosts Tara and Glenn are the most accommodating hosts they even offered to do our washing and baby sit our two boys 3 and 7 year olds while we attended the wedding that we were there for, our two boys absolutely loved the place and didn't want to leave, Thanks for having us.

Well stocked 4 square and takeaway and bar across the road.
Well stocked 4 square and takeaway and bar across the road. Unit very clean - newly refurbished. only downfall was that i expected grass infront of us and then the beach. Our units looked onto a gravel driveway. Was perfect though for our one night stop on a road trip. Would stay there again.

We stayed at Pukenui to explore Northland and loved this town. We did day trips the Te Paki sand dunes, Cape Reinga, Henderson Bay (Pink sand beach), Tapotupotu beach & Ninety mile beach.
Pukenui Pacific (cafe) is a must, their breakfast was amazing (eggs bene is sooo good!) & their hospitality was great too.
Honey Bees is a great takeaway spot too, their fish & chips is delish.
We didnt get a chance to explore the beach or Pukenui per se but it was the only accomodation we could find in Northland at short notice and loved it.

The cute cabin had everything you needed for a nights stay or longer while you visited Cape Reinga Lighthouse which was only an hours drive away. Just down the road was the Pukenui Pacific Restaurant with great food & drinks. Highly recommend this place.
