Matai Huka was lovely - out of town and a little tricky to find the way in through outbuildings, but once we got to our room, it was gorgeous - spacious and elegantly appointed, lovely view of open grounds. Make-it-yourself breakfast was provided in the kitchen area, with various options. Hostess very friendly and charming.

The seperate one bedroom unit is set in a beautiful area of native bush, with wonderful views and abundant bird life including numerous New Zealand native birds. An absolute pleasure to stay there and we will definately do 2 nights next time o enjoy the area more.
It is just a couple of minutes north of the Paraparaumu township on what is a relatively quiet road.
No breakfasts supplied but all the necessities for simple living and eating with plates etc - just bring your own breakfast eats or there many cafes within a few minutes of the stay with great food available - at Waikanae, Paraparaumu and Paraparaumu Beach with great seaside views across to Kapti Island.
A stunning location. We only stumbled across it and will definitely recommended the area to others. Has a lots to offer visitors, including a great shopping area. Our host recommended eating at the Fishermens Table restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal there. The staff were excellent and we loved the beach view.

They were lovely to us.
They were lovely to us. We were asked what we would like for breakfast and were given a freshly cooked breakfast. Very friendly owner who was happy to help in any way. Very clean, comfortable, balcony off our room overlooking the beautiful views of the coastline. Would have liked to stay longer if our schedule allowed it.

Great for bird lovers with a great mix of places.
Great for bird lovers with a great mix of places. The Waikanae Estuary was beautiful and we watched a lot of sea birds. Nga Manu Nature Reserve was awesome with a friendly Tui and Kaka landing on us, great for kids. We didn't go but there's also Kapiti Island Tours, a must do when we go back. There's also a great walk, mostly up hill and back down at Barry Hadfield Nikau Reserve. When you get to the top you have amazing views of the coastline and Kapiti Island. It's also full of native Nikau's making you feel like you've walked into a different world, it takes about half an hour up and 20 minutes down.

Wow were do I start. This was an amazing find. We arrived at midnight from ferry crossing after finding accommodation on booking.com. Owner was asleep, but happily admitted us & showed us to our stunning room, overlooking Paraparaumu & Kapati Island. She also cooked us breakfast in the morning & was friendly and chatty, a lot of local knowledge.
Ty communicates well and timely. We arrived at his property late afternoon and everything was tidy and nice.
Rooms were super comfortable, lots of pillows and warm.
There were even coffee and milk ready for us to use.
Definitely, an excellent option in Paraparaumu
The outside hotel appearance was inviting. Inside the desk and pool area looked great. The room was very spacious clean and relaxing. The location was good for cycling along the river and walking into the centre of town. The host was so helpful and working hard.
