Nice very clean, quiet place and welcoming host who was prepared for our late arrival. Beautiful views from all the windows in the room
Just 328 feet from Ohiwa Beach, this holiday park offers a children’s playground with a jumping pillow and a spacious BBQ area.

Really clean facilities. Being right on the beach was a bonus. Because of the time of year it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was a little bit off the beaten track but that made it all the more attractive. Only 10 to 15 minutes to Opotiki so easy access to shops etc. I only wish we had more time there to explore the regional park which was on the back doorstep.
Opotiki is a very quiet and sleepy town. There are just a few restaurants. They closed early. There is however a good supermarket not too far, I think it’s called Nat’s. Good to get your supplies for meals. We didn’t stay long but didn’t see much to do. But please refer to the official guides as I’m sure you might find something that we missed. We are an elderly couple, so we do not look for extreme sports or vigorous hikes.

I got to meet the locals and had an insight into their world. They were friendly and helpful. The area is beautiful and the weather was so lovely it made work a pleasure. I enjoyed the best most fluffiest pancakes at the Hot Bread Cafe. I highly recommend. Taking my dog to each beach along my travels ment he really got a good workout. Walking off the delicious lunch with a colleague/friend along one of the many beaches was invigorating.

Museum was one of the best in New Zealand.
Museum was one of the best in New Zealand. We spent over 2. 5 hours there. Wonderful exhibits donated by local woman who left half a million dollars to the museum. Very interesting, photos and write ups. World class museum, a must see. It is very well run and looked after. Worth a visit to Opotiki just to visit this.
The Anglican church in the centre was beautiful too, and some interesting but sad history to read on a board outside. Great restaurant The Royal, wonderful cafe opposite Subway. Great walks and beautiful beaches especially Bryan's Beach. Well positioned not far from Whakatane. Great place to visit.

Opotiki is a very convenient location for those bound for Tauranga, Gisborne or anywhere on the East Cape. Natural beauty within a short drive too. It has all the essentials and lots of other 'wants'.
Travellers should note that as most takeaways close at 7pm, consider having your main meal in the middle of the day (or en-route to Opotiki) if you are dead set on having only 'that choice' for dinner!

Quiet wee town - we visited in winter.
Quiet wee town - we visited in winter. Pretty setting, stunning river and great looking bike track along - maybe in summer! Plenty of choice for dinner/lunch in town - not open late but all good. Easy access to Whakatane.

The unit itself was older style, but had been modernized and was very clean. The lady in charge was super helpful and really nice. She went out of her way to accommodate. It was a short walk to the river walkway and down to the beach. It was right in town so was easy walk there, didn't need to use a car once there. - If you visit Opotiki during the week, be prepared for things such as restaurants to close early.
Tasman holiday park is a beautiful little peice of paradise tucked away in the perfect spot by the beach. Perfect get away from city life. The staff was very welcoming and have the best vibes. Definitely heading back next time we head home back to opotiki.
