The city's rebuild in the Art Deco period gives it a theme that has been enthusiastically maintained. Lots of interesting shops, galleries, museums and we had the best food we had on our trip around NZ...and we didn't even have time to sample the Hawkes Bay wineries (most are closed mid week).

We primarily went to Napier to see the architecture. This didn't disappoint. The restaurant we went to was excellent and the people very friendly. We also visited the aquarium which was very good and we were able to see a kiwi.

Napier is a great place to stay if you are looking for a city that has lots to offer without over population of people, it offer art deco style to most buildings and can even have advents at the sound shell. There is a lot of places to eat, cheap to expensive. Ahuriri offers amazing restaurants for example thirsty whale, great food for a reasonable price. Ahuriri has amazing beach, with a great boardwalk, and cute cafes to dine in for example milk and honey is great cafe with amazing food.

Napier is a hidden treasure trove of great food.

Napier is a hidden treasure trove of great food. The weather is great too. The feel of the place is amazing. Check out the OAK ESTATE for food that will keep you smiling for a long time. I’m still thinking about their food, Most of the vineyards were great with their food. Order of greatness . The top by far on my list is the 1.OAK ESTATE 2 craggy range 3, the fire station bistro 4. Clearview 5. Church road I’m sure there are more but I ran out of days to work my way through …but the one meal, I had it twice, was at the oak estate. Try it,you will thank me,

    Napier is relaxed, and friendly.

Napier is relaxed, and friendly. The weather is hot in summer. Fruit and veg produce is fresh and can be purchased from road stalls. Mōrena Expresso Bar on Munroe St makes amazing coffee. Ocean Spa is the place to go for outside hot pools and atmosphere right by the beach. MTG Museum and all the shops are awesome.

We had a spacious room with a separate bedroom for the kids, which worked well. Everything was clean and tidy and just what we expected. The location was excellent ... not quite in the middle of Napier but right on Marine Parade, across the road from the beach and Aquarium, and an easy 10 minute walk into the town centre. We enjoyed our stay.

Alice was a perfect host, she has made her little cottage feel like a home with all her personal touches you just don’t get in a hotel. If I ever head back to Napier, I wouldn’t look anywhere else. Everything from in the bathroom, kitchen & bedroom are of high quality. Thank you Alice.

The hotel is in the art deco style of the whole town of Napier and is located right in the middle of town. The room was well laid out and had everything we needed for a short stay.
