Warm welcome and easy to settle into my room, Warm room and bed. Bathroom a short distance down the corridor. Room simple and suitable for a single person. Quiet night and neighbourhood. Friendly hosts and easy to chat with and very informative on the area's history. Character hotel from 1910 that retains its era, I am pleased to have stayed in this iconic NZ hotel.

It was very clean and a good location for local shops/ walks. The bed was so cozy, especially with the Dyson heater pumping out warmth.
I appreciated the milk/butter/jam and salami in the fridge.

Village in a beautiful setting near native forest park and overlooking Lake Brunner. A small number of occupied original houses and lots of new modern holiday homes that would likely be busy in the Summer water-skiing season. Neat historic railway buildings. A great place to stop on the Tranzscenic with a couple of good places to eat overlooking the lake. Beautiful short bush walks nearby.

It is a wonderful spot and surprisingly didn't cost the earth. We ate in the Lodge and the food was excellent. The lodge and the owners are wonderful.
There is a short length of unpaved road to get to the lodge but don't let that deter you. It passes quickly and just adds to its charm.

Nice and quiet before Christmas, afterwards gets very busy with holiday makers, good walking tracks around the area. Great place if you have a boat, water skiing etc. Greymouth is only 25 minutes away if you need to go to a supermarket i.e. Countdown and New World. There is a convenience store (On the Spot) on the outskirts of Moana.

What I liked best, was a significant contributor to almost the worst aspect of my stay in Moana. The air was clear, the lake was pristine, the walks were easy going. There were no problems experienced jostling for space with other visitors on the lakefront or walks; and the food was great. The negative side to those superlatives was the cost of food and drink, and being unable to make easy contact with activity operators, such as being able to book a cruise on the lake. By the time this was sorted (it took almost 24hrs) there was not enough time left to then obtain a conveniently timed booking.
It would have been great to have a specific, well signed, location where drone photographers could launch and fly their UAS, for videographic purposes, under Part 101 of NZ CAA rules.
Location is great and the hotel was better than expected retaining much of its 1930’s charm. The room was spacious and well equipped and the views from room were superb. The staff especially Tamsin were great and the unexpected breakfast was a real bonus
Was lovely and clean we up graded to an apartment the second night. The view from the balcony was stunning. Restaurant at the hotel had great selection and very reasonably priced meals.
