Loved the locality to methven . Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Loved that it was in a quiet road and property at back of section. Peaceful and quiet. Loved the attention to detail in the accommodation.- furnishings, toiletries, perfect size for a couple. Use of spa pool was a bonus. Unfortunately no star gazing as overcast both nights we stayed.
Loved that the owners renovated the main house and have kept it for generations to enjoy

Very friendly people staying there and the staff, great location, well equipped, comfy bed, and close to Mt Hutt. I was in the kitchen and all 12-15 of us were from the North Island due to lack of snow on Mt Ruapehu and all down South for a week or two.

Owner is very nice and welcoming explaining things and showing you where things are. He is very friendly and makes you feel welcome as a guest. The continental breakfast on offer as part if he room is basic but delicious to fill your tummy!

Everything you could think of was there for us and the free coffees and cereal were a nice touch
Loved Methven for access to Mt Hutt. Great food in town and variety but was not cheap. Methven Travel was amazing and made our stay very convenient. Would recommend hiring ski gear from Big Al’s as cheaper than up the mountain and very helpful. Town is quite small and easy to stay there without a vehicle. Views spectacular, thermal pools were excellent and skiing at Mt Hutt was amazing

Nice relaxing spot.
Nice relaxing spot. Visited the hot pools for the first time and enjoyed the adult only pools where you could relax with a drink. Nice walks around the town and the canal and plenty of nice cafes and restaurants. And of course there's the nearby skiing and easy access with bus picking you up from your hotel.

Brinkley Lodge was excellent, warm and welcoming, a spacious 2 bedroom apartment. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant there, and lunch and dinner at The Green Parrot, coffee at Station Cafe, 45, and Primo. It is very easy to get around Methven, nice to be able to do the Methven walkway. I found a cousin's grave in the Methven Cemetery, the walkway runs alongside it.
We are over 70, we would like to do more walks next time and visit Staveley for lunch. The Hammer Hardware deserves special mention for great friendly service. In general we noticed the friendliness of almost all the staff we met. The staff at the accommodation we had booked, Pinedale Lodge were the exception. They gave zero assistance when we left texts and cell phone messages, We moved to Brinkley Lodge as a result.

Our visit to Methven was to go to the hot pools, which were excellent. My husband is not comfortable around water, but found the hot pools to his liking. We had a delicious evening meal at the Green Parrot restaurant, which was very well patronised when we were there. Food and beverage prices were very reasonable.

Couldn’t fault this lovely little village. Friendly people, tidy place easy to access. Great range of places to explore and enjoy, or to just sit and watch the world go by. A highlight for our group (8 70+) was having coffee at Topp Country Cafe. Go there!

We were there for 2 nights in the summer.
We were there for 2 nights in the summer. Our full day was the best. Drove to the river for a look then parked at the race ground and did the piwakawaka and fairy walk. Had a picnic and then went to the tranquility pools.
Loved the pools and walk up bar. 2 hours was definately long enough and if you dont have kids then def do the adult only side.
All this could have easily been a day trip from Christchurch.
Dinner at the Green Parrot was amazing. We had the calamari and mussles and they were both amazing.
Would not stay at the methven resort again though. No pool and no entertainment or access to the shared space.
Location was great, just in the center of Methven. Room was clean, warm and looked nice. Staff was very helpful and nice. Big living room/kitchen with equipment and fireplace. Upstairs there was gaming-/tv-room with comfortable sofas. Great place in every way and not too expensive.
Did not have breakfast. Close to Darfiled and Christchurch and within walking distance to the Mehtven CBD and resturants.

Great size room, great location to everything in Methven. The bed was super comfortable and big. The staff were lovely and very welcoming as soon as I walked into the reception. The room had a perfect view of the snowy mountains.
Room was warm and suitable for me and my two sons. Also had a bath. Location was good - just a 300-400m walk to centre of Methven. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
