THE HOT SPRING POOLS!! They were the attraction for us as we wanted a good soak in spring water, NOT geo thermal water. They are authentic genuine spring pools, not fancy pants! There are 3 private pools of ranging heat. Very old school which we loved.

The staff is really friendly, the view is great, and the prices are affordable. At night, you can see the stars from the terrace.
With the lake right in front, it's perfect for a walk.

The location is amazing - the property is surrounded by nature, which is exactly why we chose it.
We had dinner in the restaurant and it was very tasty. Original menu and very well prepared food.
The staff were very friendly and shared some good tips on the activities in the surrounding area. We appreciated the effort they put in to inform us on how to use our time (especially as the weather conditions were not the best).
Located in Turangi, Riverstone Lodge, a 5-star hostel, offers a shared kitchen, a shared lounge and free WiFi. The property provides garden views and a terrace.

Kurutau is a beautiful very peaceful with amazing local and friendly people. We went on the river run fantastic and then a swim in the Lake. The weather is fresh, crisp nice and chill in the evening. My daughter's bach was right on top of Omori breathtaking view of the Lake and we could walk down for a swim.
I would highly recommend Kurutau to families, friends and to anyone doing a road trip around New Zealand.

Kuratau's mood changes with the seasons and might be quite vibrantly different in Summer, with many barbecues & outdoor entertaining areas evidently poised ready for finer weather. We ran-away for a quiet, cosy weekend in September and loved it. Cafes and shops are all a drive away in Turangi so we were delighted to find the conviviality of the local winery, where we purchased a nice Rose and enjoyed coffee and pizzas. Next time we'll bring a few more supplies with us, stay a while longer and perhaps mingle more.
