Pond Road Park - Raglan, hotel in Kawhia

Boasting garden views, Pond Road Park - Raglan features accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 42 km from Waikato Stadium.

The property was on a farm / lifestyle block. It was very quiet and had no light pollution. Surrounded by trees. The house had all the facilities one would need. Great shower and comfortable beds. It's very nice to sit on the deck for meals or drinks. Patricia and Mat are friendly and helpful hosts.

Lovely couple of days as harbour had a few people in the area due to community meetings and rock’n’roll gig down the local township. Lots of lovely boats on the water. Great wharf to fish off. Shops had wonderful kai or you could cook you a classic kiwi bbq at the park with the free grill. Lovely community ❤️

Kawhia is a quintessential seaside town that a lot of New Zealanders remember from their childhoods. It has not yet been spoiled by ferocious developers or greedy rich people trying to make it the next great beach town boom! Lots of old fashioned buildings and the first place Maori landed in NZ. So has special cultural significance and is rich in sea life. If you like golf green fees are $10 ! The Pub serves food thats quite generous in portion size and fresh. A refreshing place to come to. Thats away from the city rush and has its own tempo of life.

We only had one night/less than 24 hours so we just visited the beautiful hot water beach and went for a walk, but we felt we could have stayed longer. It seems like a perfect place to relax. Note that you have to be organized - eating out is limited (a fish and chip shop was the only place open in the evening and even that closes around 7.30 pm). The children loved the beach and also loved exploring the town, the walkway along the beach with old trees and places to hide. It is a tiny town so they were out exploring on their own, which they loved.
