There are a total of three villas in the middle of a magnificent, large and meticulously kept park. The other two villas were not occupied, so we felt like the owners of that entire park. There were plenty of birds and birdsong with a Kingfisher returning every day (@Jane: image is attached).
On the day of arrival, the owners had presented us with an excellent bottle of rosé wine, chocolate and a package of small fruit pies. Thanks for that!
Our villa featured a hotpool that we used every night, watching the stars and listening to the sounds of the park.
The villa was comfortable with everything we needed. The "master" bedroom was spacious, comfy and with lots of daylight.
The contact to the owners was through messages only, however, we always received quick, complete and very personal answers 🙂.

This is a great place for a quiet, relaxing stay, with access to nearby beach walks and walking trails in the Ta Mata National Park.
Don't come if you want night life or nearby restaurants. You're in the countryside, and the nearest town (Napier) is a bout 15km away..

We were taken by surprise.
We were taken by surprise. A trendy little town with great eating options nestled between Hastings and Napier, on the Clive River, is very handy to the whole of Hawkes Bay. Visiting the Gannet Colony with Overland Safaris was definitely the highlight of our trip, highly recommended. We ate twice at the Thai restaurant ER DEE WA....fresh, delicious, reasonable priced.

Great location so handy to Napier, Hastings, Havelock North, you were not in a busy populated area which in these times is a bonus, the gardens around the cottages made privacy a bonus you would not even know you had people in the next cottage. Gardens where delightful. Definitely a place to return to if in the area.

Spotlessly clean, had everything we needed plus extras (eggs, milk, bread, cooking oil, washing powder, etc). Air con was wonderful in hot weather. Beds super comfy. Everything was good quality. They notified us really quickly that we had left items behind so we could go back and get them. Layout perfect for family. Lovely private outdoor area for BBQing and eating. We brought our dog (with their permission) and they even supplied a towel for the dog! Will definitely book again.

Nice modern property. Warm and cosy, under floor heating in bathroom. Beautiful bush surrounds, private. Well equipped with essentials plus lovely to arrive to bread, milk, eggs and spreads in the fridge! Loved the small touches like heated towel rail turned on before we arrived. Very thoughtful. Great location, close to Clive, Napier, Hastings, the beach and walkways. Also close to wineries at Clifton beach ! (5 minute drive). The perfect little getaway house for a couple 😊
Loved the pool table and outdoor chest set! Bed was extremely comfy and kitchen was very well-equipped for a small unit. Bathroom, particularly the shower, was great. Hosts were lovely and the location was perfect, lovely beach walk about 2 minutes down the road and easy to get to different parts of Hawkes bay from Clive.
Location was as expected, rural. You really need a car to stay here. Having said that, it was a short drive to Clive and to Havelock North, and made a good base for exploring Hawkes Bay. Nicely-presented, comfortable and well set-up for cooking (if you can resist all the great local wineries and eateries).
