FAQs about hotels in Christchurch

Stunning Natural Beauty at Your Doorstep

Dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes is the seriously stunning New Zealand city of Christchurch. While its old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Located along the Avon River, NZ’s 2nd-largest city has Victoria Square at its centre. Surrounding highlights include the Canterbury Museum and the Gothic-style Arts Centre. Sumner Beach is a favourite location for locals when the sun shines.

Out towards the spectacular harbour town of Lyttelton is the Christchurch Gondola ride where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city.

The South Island’s capital is a good starting-off point for extreme sports such as bungee jumping and white-water rafting. The majestic Southern Alps surround the city and offer world-class ski resorts such as Methven, at the foot of Mt. Hutt.

A large selection of motels and hotels are available on Booking.com, including in the vicinity around Christchurch International Airport.

Christchurch is a chill and relaxing place.

Christchurch is a chill and relaxing place. It is beautiful. clean and tidy. The greenery is fantastic, with beautiful parks around the city. The people are always helpful and with a smile on their face. It is quite easy to go around the city, whether walking, cycling, using the bus etc. Alternatively, one can explore beyond the city by taking tours. There are a number of tour operators whose tour leaders know their stuff, are customer focused and do their best to pass on their knowledge to their clients. The theatre scene is popular and good productions are raised. Recommended to visit.

Christchurch is a city still undergoing renovation after the earthquakes of a decade ago, there are still many signs of the destruction. Hunt out the art on the sides of the buildings it is worth the effort. Hagley park and the botanical gardens are worth a visit and you can spend several hours there. Most public museums are free to enter giving respite from the weather.

Bruce was a fantastic host. He upgraded us to the best room which happened to be empty that night so that we wouldn't have to share a bathroom with other guests. The bed was probably the most comfortable we've slept on in any hotel, and the little garden terrace was lovely. Highly recommended any visitors to Christchurch stay here. The bus stop isn't far away and goes straight to the CBD in 30 minutes or so.

We had planned to spend the night at a hotel as our flight to ChirstChurch was coming in late and this hotel offerred a free airport pick/drop. The shuttle pickup was smooth when we reached ChristChurch quite late. We got a drop to the airport the next day and we could get a rental and get on with our SOuth Island road-trip. The room was super clean and the beds were comfortable.

The hotel is within walking distance to the the airport/terminal. A hotel shuttle is also available even in the uncivilized early morning hours - which is useful especially in case of heavy luggage. A hotel restaurant is fine, and there are some other meal options nearby. A 15 minute drive to down-town Christchurch.
