Kai Iwi Lakes Resort, hotel in Baylys Beach

Kai Iwi Lakes Resort is a recently renovated holiday park in Kaihu, where guests can make the most of its garden and barbecue facilities.

The host was nice and offered a free cabin as we had a huge whānau! Ngā mihinui for that! We had everything we needed in the main house for eating/ chilling out and we slept in our own cabins which was fully furnished and facilities were great! Kai Iwi lakes down the road too and it was peaceful there.

    Autumn holidays, quiet and relaxing,

Autumn holidays, quiet and relaxing, only negative experience ( NOT CONNECTED TO THE BACH !!), fish and chips take away from local Sharkies-fish & chips, extremly unhappy about timeframe ( almost 1 for 4 bits of fish and 2 tiny hands of chips), quantity and quality of product-- can't recommend

The beach was very good for body boarding.

The beach was very good for body boarding. There were plenty of waves and the sea was quite shallow so the water was warmer than expected. There was a constant wind blowing when we were there which might not suit everyone. Within the village there was a well equipped shop and a restaurant come cafe come bar which served good food at a reasonable price. It is a really nice looking place ideal for a relaxing break.

It was a fun experience driving on the beach and seeing the ocean. We walked up onto the cliff/rock at sunset it was a beautiful sight watching the sun go down. It was a very nice experience for the family.

The beach is an easy walk and typical of a west coast beach in that it is pretty windy and can be wild. We had great weather. The sand and waves were not too big yet could be huge I'd imagine. We didn't eat at the only place in Baylys Beach preferring to pick up groceries in Dargaville and making our own food. I was told it was nothing special so went on recommendation. Loads of birdsong and there were some groups of people partying around us but not obtrusive. Great walk along the clifftop to the North of the Beach. Loads to explore with kids.
