While searching for comfortable place to stay with 6-year old child near Lake Tekapo area in New Zealand - we came across this gem and booked it. We stayed in “Sherwood” cottage on the facility and had one of the most memorable experience. It had all required amenities including air conditioning in the family room and was within 1 hour distance from Lake Tekapo. It also has a nice patio where we enjoyed morning breakfast while listening to beautiful bird chirping. Murray and Jackie were super friendly and accommodative of our asks. They seem to be taking great care of the facility. Our 6 year old had a great time spinning on the private flying fox (zipline) and feeding pellets to alpacas that Jackie gave earlier in the day.

Conveniently located next to a historical pub and restaurant, Mt Dobson Motel offers self-catering accommodations with unlimited free WiFi.

Rooms were a little dated but perfectly functional. There was a lovely garden out back and it was a 20 minute drive from Lake Taupo.
