Akaroa Village Inn, hotel in Akaroa

Located just 10 minutes' walk from the historic town center, Akaroa Village Inn features free on-site parking and free WiFi. Accommodations options include private rooms and self-contained apartments....

Lovely 3 bedroom unit in block across from the main building. Very clean and comfortable. Beds very comfy. Really close to all the 'dangerous' shops (Fire and Ice and the Merino shop). Kaimoana takeways 2 minutes (if that) up the road (best fish and chips in Akaroa - only my opinion). Ethels cinema was great for 2 movies and a delicious lunch.

Quaint place of Maori, French, and English heritage making...

Quaint place of Maori, French, and English heritage making it quite special. Breakfast at The Common was very good. We were also very impressed with George & Natalie on the Dolphin Cruise. George, a 7th Generation descendant of French settlers, was a font of information.

My Partner and I have visited Akaroa three times, the views are absolutely beautiful, the French heritage is evident, gardens are well maintained around the village. There are lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants to suit all.

Lots to do here. Great shops and cafes/restaurants.

Lots to do here. Great shops and cafes/restaurants. You must sail on the Fox II to see the dolphins, penguins and seals and learn about the local history. Outstanding! Very walkable town and also some good hiking.

Akaroa is a must-visit township, it has some amazing cafes/restaurants, and the food is great and varied. Some of them have both inside and outside seating so it is lovely to take advantage of that on a nice day. There are also some great wee shops to visit where you can find a treasure of two. We found a gin-tasting cafe that is a must-visit when you are there and also an Indian Restaurant whose food was amazing. All the shops and cafes are within walking distance if your accommodation is in town. There are some great walks to go on and we also went swimming with the dolphins which is an experience I highly recommend when you are in Akaroa.

We loved the quaint historic town.

We loved the quaint historic town. We loved its French flavour. The cafe’s and restaurants outstanding especially Ma Maison where we had the best meal ever. The food, the flavours and the welcoming staff, outstanding! We had breakfast at The Common, again fabulous. We loved walking round the bay to the quay. Everyone was so friendly and happy to stop and talk. At the end of the quay was the prize, the beautiful pearl shop, an absolute must to visit. We can’t wait to return. Already planning a longer trip.

As our previous nights accommodation (in a local camping ground) hadn't suited our needs, we were desperate to find some accommodation for the following 1 night - and the only availability was the Akaroa Waterfront apartments. We were thrilled with the room and all facilities, and the staff were so helpful. We'll definitely be re-booking in the future.

The whole experience whilst only an overnight stay was what we were looking for at the end of our 30+ day NZ holiday. Akaroa was much like we expected and really not too far from Christchurch airport ( 1hour 45 min ) Property was just great as was the host and the included breakfast was delicious.

We received a friendly welcome on arrival and were provided with all the relevant information regarding our stay. We asked for restaurant recommendations and were not disappointed with the dinner we had at the Madeira Hotel. Our room was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped.
