Beautiful historical home with lovely hosts. Both Sharon and Noel were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The house was decorated really nicely. The living room and breakfast rooms downstairs were filled with interesting art, objects, furniture. The owners invite everyone for wine at 6pm which was lovely and all the guests very friendly so was interesting to hear about their travels. Bedroom was nicely furnished and decorated and the bathroom had a heated floor.
Akaroa is a beautiful quaint seaside town. Has a lovely harbour surrounded by hills. Only 1.5 hours from Christchurch so it is great for a mini break away. There is lots to do from being very active to just enjoying the peace and quiet of the area.

Lovely scenery, friendly locals, great food options, lovely shops. Some great walks in the area and the Giant's House is a must see. Love the beautiful old homes, gorgeous gardens, sandy beach and unique identity as a French village - great French bakery also!

Perfect mix of nature and town activities, easily achieved on a short holiday. The Giant's House is fantastic and unique. Loved the dolphin cruise, views, bays inside and outside the volcano, drives over the summit road, wine tasting (and the lovely owners of French Peak Winery), casual and fine dining (with French staff), waffles and bottomless coffee, live music, walks, swims, people watching, history (French, Maori, etc.) and bellbirds galore.

The Banks Peninsula is wonderful and worth several days to explore. We loved the Eastern Bays (especially Okains Beach) and the garden at Fisherman's Bay is an absolute must for anyone interested in gardens.

If you liked Picton, then Akaroa is even better.
If you liked Picton, then Akaroa is even better. Such a nice small town with beautiful views, the possibilities of kayaking, stargazing, seeing hector dolphins and talking to locals who have either a shop or a great restaurant/bar with sea views.

This was our second visit to Akaroa, and the second time we have stayed at these apartments. They are charming, quaint and comfortable, and we will certainly stay there again. The view of the waterfront from the balconies is lovely, and they are located within easy walking distance to a number of restaurants and bars.
Hideaway is a lovely little cottage tucked away in the forest. It was secluded, comfortable with lots of space for two and the environment was filled with birdsong. So relaxing we almost forgot to take a look around Akaroa itself, which was delightful.
We love this homestay. Very clean and tidy. The couple are very kind and friendly. The husband told us in detail where to visit in Akaroa. We appreciate that. We love the courtyard with very beautiful flowers. We enjoyed our stay in Halfmoon Cottage.
Tranquil and secluded cottage, Very well presented and comfortable. Very clean, tidy and well stocked bathroom towels etc. Perfect for getaways and romantic weekends. Only wish we'd booked for longer. Will definitely be back.
