The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly, we could ask for anything and got immediate assistance. Also, the roof top is a very nice place to watch the sun rise, do some yoga or just have a coffee and read a book. The room served perfectly out needs and the breakfast was delicious every day, so a very decent hotel for a brief stay in Kathmandu and perfectly located to explore the city and take a bus to somewhere else (heart of Thamel and bus stop within walking distance under 10 min)

People were so accommodating, a beautiful place to stay in a great location. The staff up front were great with recommendations and help with my rides and transfers. The breakfast was incredible, as someone that is gluten free they brought me handmade gluten free pancakes and freshly baked bread everyday. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure I had options to eat and were exceptional. I couldn’t recommend a better place and friendlier or more accommodating staff!

The best thing that has happened for visitors to Katmandu is the fantastic App called Indrive, where you can order a motorcycle, small car, big car, or bus taxi, and in seconds, you will get the required choice at very good rates. Within minutes, you can get transport 24 hours a day. And people say that this method of travel is one of the safest in the world. I used it many times, and I was not disappointed even once.

I added Nepal to my trip as an afterthought, basically to see Everest and a few temples. It is soooo much more than that! The people are amazing, the temperature is less oppressive, your money goes so far, the service generally is top rate, the food is tasty and plentiful, and then there’s the scenery, mountains, temples, monasteries, trekking, peaceful lakes, wildlife…… just GO, stop making excuses.

I recently traveled to Kathmandu and was genuinely impressed by how far my money went. From accommodations to meals, everything was incredibly affordable without ever feeling cheap in quality. The local cuisine, both street food and sit-down meals, offered great variety and flavor at prices that made it easy to try everything I wanted. Beyond just the affordability, the people were welcoming, always ready to help, and made it feel like a safe environment for any visitor. I was also surprised to find that the city was cleaner than many other major tourist hubs, and the infrastructure catered well to foreigners. All in all, the value for money in Kathmandu truly enhances the travel experience, making it a top choice for budget-conscious explorers.

This was my 12th trip to Kathmandu so obviously I love it. I did find it very busy, more than normal this time. However, it's a great adventure and I would encourage a traveller to get out and find the places not everyone goes.

On this occasion we only used this hotel between flights to Pokhara, and only travelled into Kathmandu for a short period. We have been to Kathmandu before though, it’s a fascinating place full of temples and ancient architecture. we loved the city and Kathmandu valley. Nepalese people are so friendly and the pace of life almost quite tranquil especially after a trip to India! (Last time we came straight from Varanasi)

This hostel is more than a stars hotel in Nepal . Beautiful hostel with indoor and outdoor seating area where you can have a delicious meals ; breakfast,lunch and dinner. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
During my 3 months stayed I found this is best and favourite accommodation in Nepal. Room are neat and clean,hot shower,roof top ,food ,garden are the key factor of the hotel. Will recommend everyone who are looking for best hotels in thamel .Hostel have private room and dorm beds .
This hotel is a perfect little relaxation hub in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Thamel. Beds are super comfortable. Rooms are clean and decorated well. Breakfast is quite simple but still very tasty. The swimming pool is real gem. The best of all though was the staff, particularly the manager on the front desk. He was very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Highly recommend.
It's one of the best mid class hotels in Kathmandu and they have very good service plus free luggage storage for up to 30 days useful for trekking.
Some other mid class hotels that actually were a bit more expensive in Kathmandu weren't as good.
Don't expect luxury of course. This is a decent 3 star with very good service level.
I am a regular traveller to Nepal and have tried many different hotels in Kathmandu Valley. Pahan Chhen is one of the best - great location, comfortable rooms, good food, roof terrace with stunning views, friendly and helpful staff. Can't really ask for more!
