Leknes is extremely convenient if it's the first time you're staying in Lofoten. There are plenty towns to visit within a 1.5 hour range of driving and if we had more time we would have ventured further. We only stayed for 4 nights but it was enough to visit a number of well known towns/villages like Henningsvær, Nusfjord, Å, Reine, and Svolvær.
It is a very small town but it has everything you need like a large grocery store, a fairly large mall, some great take away places like Pizza Bakeren, conveniently located charging stations for your electric vehicle, plus some hiking trails very close by which I think is the norm throughout Lofoten in general.
The airport was only 7 mins from where we stayed and it's also very easy to get to. The Lofoten Bakeri is a very popular cafe and bakery and has excellent coffee. I highly recommend Leknes as an entry point into Lofoten. Next time I will stay in Svolvær purely because it's a larger city with more connection points to activities etc, and because of it's proximity to popular places further north. You need minimum 2-3 weeks in Lofoten itself if you really want to experience it fully, but I would stay for months if time and finances allowed!

Leknes was easy to get around for groceries or drinks. We had a great meal at Digg.
Anita's in Reine is worth the trip for the fish sandwich!
Spectacular scenery - everywhere! Could have stayed another week.

Leknes is an incredible place, easily accesible through the E10 road and strategically located in the Lofoten islands so that you can access a miriad of wonderful sites within <1h ride. Plenty of services like supermarkets, petrol stations. A perfect basecamp for your trip to Lofoten.

I visited Lofoten Islands for a photo workshop.
I visited Lofoten Islands for a photo workshop. The scenery is outstanding. The photos workshop was very helpful for me. The Leknes airport was the smallest airport I have ever seen and there was only ONE taxi there. I ended up walking with my luggage for about an hour to a pizza joint and one of the waitresses called a taxi for me. The Hamnoy area is mind-blowing.

Excellent location as a base for travel. Very close to Leknes airport - we arrived at midnight so only had to drive a short distance. It also excellent for driving to different scenic locations in the Lofoten Islands and within walking distance of places to eat in Leknes.
Plenty of choice available for breakfast. Availability of free coffee and biscuits during the day was good, especially after returning from a cold trip out.
The overall property was great as it had all the facilities, was very spacious, and was well-designed. It was also nice to wake up to the waterfront as you have great views from the terrace. The property is located in a good spot as it is a short drive to Leknes and its beaches. Communication was also good with the host; he was always quick to respond and help with any questions. We would stay here again.
Location was perfect, just 10 minutes from Leknes and an hour from the likes of Reine/Hamnoy etc House was extremely tidy, shower was great, beds where comfortable. Has everything you need, even the likes of cooking oil, salt pepper etc
The apartment was quite spacious, and the queen bed and sofa bed were both comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Location is good, being close to centre of Leknes.
