Thanks to our discussion with our host we realized this place was cute and funky. Lots or original art work on the walls everywhere. This appears to be a terrific spot for younger people to stay, especially if they are into music. Our experience was quiet but we learned there had been a big music concert there in the week before our visit which explained why there were packages of ear plugs available n the bathroom. There is no dining room here but they have an arrangement with what appeared to be the best hotel in town where we could go for meals at a discounted rate. The food and service there was excellent.
Veganeset Camping features sea views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Balestrand. The property has mountain views.

The flat is amazing, so is the location. It gad toys, guides, it was warm, huge balcony, the shop is literally in the same building.
Beautiful village with easy walks for exploring. We walked to our hotel after disembarking the ferry. Enjoyed seeing apple orchards, learning about the early textiles, beautiful Viking statue called Balehaugen in the middle of a residential area. Highly recommend the Midtnes Hotel and the Baalee Restaurant.

A very historic little town in the middle of nowhere.
A very historic little town in the middle of nowhere. IF you plan on doing something other than hiking around the town, like crossing over the fjord to see the Stave Church... best plan ahead. The ferry over there only goes once a day... we missed it.

Take the fast ferry (4 hours) from Bergen and slow down and enjoy the glorious surroundings. Be prepared to relax and enjoy the quiet. We ate our meals and enjoyed cocktails at the Kviknes Hotel. We slept at the Balestrand Hotel and enjoyed the quiet.

Arriving by ferry drops you at the heart of the town.
Arriving by ferry drops you at the heart of the town. Walking south along Kong Beles Veg for about 2 kilometers affords beautiful views of St. Olaf's church, the picturesque valley, the beach, the hills, and several "Swiss-style" charming old houses. A must-see is Balestrand's little beach and the deep, clear pools beside it where I sat for ages soaking up the sound of the water's tranquil lapping on the rocks and watching fish zip around way below the surface of the crystal-clear water. I even caught people swimming and sunning themselves at midday in late September! There were not many dining options post-tourist-season, but I had the soup at the chocolatery called Holmen within the main triangle of town, and though I found it overpriced (compared to prices in Bergen), it was delicious.

Our family absolutely loved staying at Frydenlund near Balestrand. Everything in the property's information was accurate. Great hosts who helped us when we had some questions, Views are wonderful and several areas in which to relax and enjoy them. Check-in was easy as there was a door code. While we would love to return to this part of Norway we would only do so if we could also stay at Frydenlund.

Very spacious living areas with fabulous long balcony overlooking the harbour. Plenty of seating available
Very well-equipped kitchen including kitchen linen (lacking in other Norway apartments)
Very good communication and easy access via lockbox. We really appreciated being able to access the apartment 1-2 hours early when we arrived in Balestrand
Dishwasher (with tablets)
A well-behaved shower that didn't flood the bathroom!!
The hotel offers breathtaking views and is surrounded by beautiful nature, providing a serene and relaxing atmosphere. It was the perfect place to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure that I felt welcome and well taken care of. Their warm hospitality added to the overall experience.
I highly recommend this hotel.
Our host was exceptionally accommodating in helping repair a broken corner of my suitcase. He found from a friend the perfect heavy-duty tape to hold the ripped area back together.
He and all his staff were extremely friendly and offered my family of four and me a especially comfortable and welcoming place to call home for our visit to charming Balestrand.
I enjoyed my stay here very much, especially since I was given a room on the top floor facing the fjord! I also liked the arrangement of having breakfast served in a fancier hotel nearby.
