It's an amazing hotel with fantastic helpful & warm staff--truly a a luxury experience. The room was fantastic, and the hotel was beautiful. The grounds were beautiful (though we didn't get to explore much due to a delayed arrival and rain), but a highlight was that we could enjoy the beautiful view while staying dry inside.

We loved the area of Havixhorst. There was a lovely forest around the hotel. Meppel is close by with nice restaurants. The area is perfect for cycling and for day trips to e.g. Giethoorn, Nationaal Park Wieden-Weerribben and Zwarte Dennen which is a great place for nature, hiking and cycling.

The hotel is truly magnificent. Beautiful building, rooms and staff are beyond professional and accommodating. My wife and I have travelled over 80 countries and the Chateauhotel De Havixhorst is likely the best accommodation we have ever had the privilege of visiting. And the restaurant and dining was just as exceptional. Truly a place worth making a special trip for.

Everything. This place is simply amazing. We have visited many times and will return many more. The hotel is simply a beautiful piece of history that you can spend a few nights in, while enjoying amazing food and wine in the restaurant for dinner. The breakfast shouldn't be missed either.
The location and restaurant are excellent! And it’s not far from Giethoorn if you wish to visit it one day. You can also rent bikes directly at the hotel. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
