Hotel Orion was chosen as it was close to our cycle route between Rotterdam and Itmuiden. It is on an interesting island served by a short ferry journey which runs 24 hours.
Kaag Island has a village on it (Kaag), which although having an enormous ship yard, is a quiet traditional village with thatched cottages, a hotel, and bar/restaurants looking over the lake. It is the centre for many water sports.
The hotel is quiet, unusual, and well priced. The host is welcoming and helpful.

We liked that the swimming pool was big and the jacuzzi was relaxing. This definetly reached are expectations! It was great for the kids. While the adults enjoyed the sauna. And we liked the "welcome" station and the sweets (perfect for the kids )!😄

Family run, authentic, good location. Simple but great breakfast.
Quite, but not much to do, especially in the colder time.
Quite, but not much to do, especially in the colder time. Not much variety for restaurants, not even that calm because of closeness to the airport. Didn't hate my stay, people are really nice, it's just I am not coming back another time.

B&B is in a quiet semi-rural setting on a small island (served by reliable 24hr “ferry”). Perfectly situated 30 mins from both Schiphol and Keukenhof. The room is hotel quality with exceptional attention to detail. Antoinette is a great host and provides a delicious little “artisan” breakfast in the room. Comfy bed, spacious bathroom with overhead shower. Free parking immediately adjacent to property. Nice area with excellent restaurants on the island itself, for a pleasant lazy walk in the evenings.
