Our stay at The Lighthouse Hotel and Spa was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality with two fresh coconut water; owners two amazing sisters from Toronto who made sure every detail of our trip was perfect. Their attention to detail in planning all our meals and excursions took all the stress off our shoulders. We didn’t have to worry about finding a good captain for our snorkeling and fishing trips—they only work with experienced, trusted captains who know the best spots on the island. We even got dropped off at one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, which was just a short walk back to the hotel. It was pure paradise!
The food at the hotel was a highlight of our trip. Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and full of healthy options, including vegan choices made fresh to order. Stephanie, the cook, is phenomenal—she clearly takes pride in her cooking and only uses the freshest ingredients. You could taste the love and care she puts into every meal! The hotel is located just 10 minutes up the hill from the dock, far enough from the noisy town but still close enough for a quick walk if you want to explore. The peacefulness make it the perfect retreat for anyone looking to recharge in a serene, natural setting.
One thing that really stood out was how organized everything was. The owners helped us plan every detail, which made our stay so much more enjoyable. We felt completely safe and taken care of, and it was such a relief to have everything arranged for us—from meals to excursions—without any hassle.
The hotel itself is a peaceful oasis. It’s private, quiet, and ideal for people who love healthy living, walking for a bit of exercise, and just being surrounded by nature. Ignore the negative reviews! They’re irrelevant to what this hotel truly offers. If you come with an open mind and aren’t nitpicky about rules, you’ll find that this place is organized, relaxing, and a little slice of paradise.

The owner was very nice; the room was clean; and there was free wi-fi (except when electricity is shut off on the whole island between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day). The owner was also nice enough not to charge us for the first night of our reservation because we could not make it from Big Corn Island to Little Corn Island due to the weather (no pangas or boats were allowed on the water the day we landed on Big Corn Island).

It was excellent for the price. The woman at the restaurant was super friendly. I brought dragon fruit with me in the photo taken at the hotel. It is recommended to pay at the hotel in cash. At that rate it’s not a problem.

The island is small, with friendly locals and a relaxing atmosphere. You can enjoy snorkeling, diving, and watching amazing sunsets. It's a perfect place to get away and relax.

The island and the.people were amazing. Within a very short time felt like home. Loved the beaches, the restaurants, the people, the activities. Highly recommend this location for adventuresome active people.. don't expect 4 or 5 star accommodations.

The problems you hear about Nicaragua aren’t a thing here. It truly is an island paradise with lovely people. Wonderful that there are no cars or motorbikes. A little expensive because everything is imported, but overall a very special place.
