Airconditioning was at least cold. And water heater worked well. There were some snacks sold at the front desk lobby. The hotel was very near to many restaurants.

A relaxing environment by the river/sea with a beautiful community with plenty of smiles everywhere. Good place to make a day trip to Tak Bai, Thailand. Wau Museum is small, but culturally rich and children can do batik painting on the art cafe beside it.
Challenges: Grab may not always get you a car. Almost everyone only speaks Malay.

What we loved was the journey in the jungle railway.
What we loved was the journey in the jungle railway. Our hotel Maena Water Chalet was pleasant. We took a boat ride on the river and saw water monitor lizard. It was hard to find good food options in Tumpat esp for a vegetarian family member. We went and saw both the sleeping Buddha and the sitting one, pretty but not amazing. The beach had some ok places but our best find was a Thai restaurant in Wakaf Bahru. Helpful to pay a taxi/van for the day. Not sure if it’s worth spending much time in Tumpat. I might have just taken the train back the same night instead of stopping there. Perhaps Wakaf Bahru has better options!
