A relaxing environment by the river/sea with a beautiful community with plenty of smiles everywhere. Good place to make a day trip to Tak Bai, Thailand. Wau Museum is small, but culturally rich and children can do batik painting on the art cafe beside it. Challenges: Grab may not always get you a car. Almost everyone only speaks Malay.

What we loved was the journey in the jungle railway.

What we loved was the journey in the jungle railway. Our hotel Maena Water Chalet was pleasant. We took a boat ride on the river and saw water monitor lizard. It was hard to find good food options in Tumpat esp for a vegetarian family member. We went and saw both the sleeping Buddha and the sitting one, pretty but not amazing. The beach had some ok places but our best find was a Thai restaurant in Wakaf Bahru. Helpful to pay a taxi/van for the day. Not sure if it’s worth spending much time in Tumpat. I might have just taken the train back the same night instead of stopping there. Perhaps Wakaf Bahru has better options!

I thinks the foods in Tumpat are better than Kota Bharu.

I thinks the foods in Tumpat are better than Kota Bharu. Reasonably priced mostly. Tumpat have Pantai Sri Tujuh which is great for evening stroll and more places to eat. If you are an angler, there is so much spot for fishing. The town is not jammed with cars. At the town, they have the last train station in Kelantan. It is old and historical. Next to the train station, they have public park which you can relaxed with family in the afternoon and it is a good spot for anglers too.
