Many things to do: Geoparks, mangrove river tour, wildlife, Maha Tower, beautiful beaches and sunsets, cable cars and sky bridge, island hopping on speed boats, as well as delicious Malay, international cuisine and seafoods. Easy to drive around and rental car was relatively cheap.

A boring town, and very unattractive. Just useful to be close to the ferry for the mainland. The money exchange office at the pier is a rip off; go into town to the money exchange there.
The tourist office at the pier is very helpful though.

Overall my fav part of the Island, with plenty of places.
Overall my fav part of the Island, with plenty of places. Scarborough FIsh n Chips is a great place to visit on Wednesday Nights for a beer and live music, along with Jacks bar. There was also a kareoke bar nearby and The Westin Hotel for a reat afternoon happy hour beer session .
The Ramafda Hotel there was also v good.

Great city to see and explore.
Great city to see and explore. The whole Island of Langkawi can be driven around so if you like a build up city Kuah is ideal to stay in. Close to the port and many choices for a good meal and exploring a night market.

The marketing of the tourist attractions by the authorities can be better. Dont just promote the beaches. Goot family spots like the Wild Life centre and the Craft centre are of World Class standards.

It gets worse from previous visits..
It gets worse from previous visits.. This town is a bit run down and I think better planning and maintenance could be done. It used to be a much better spot to hang around.
There is a seafod stall name Ka Kee Lang which serves great food with very reasonable price. Much better than its neighbour stalls.
A eatery opposite Sri Langkawi mini mart, which sells mamak / arabian food is also worth the visit.

We stayed here in Jan 2022. Affordable price. Located in pekan Kuah, really suitable to stay if u love shopping (near HIG, Idaman Suri, etc). The staff was really kind & helpful. We are travelling wt my grandparents & the staff are always there to assist when we need help wt the elderly. Thanks soo much. Will repeat if i come to Langkawi again.
Strategic location at the heart of Kuah town and walking distance to water park, food and other amenities. Room is clean and quite spacious for a 3 star hotel. Go for the 3rd storey facing the sea.
