Safe and vibrant town with lots of street art and good food.
Safe and vibrant town with lots of street art and good food. Also much more pedestrian friendly than a lot of other cities in Malaysia, and Rapid Penang system is quite reliable (as long as you have loose cash on you). Some nice beaches to have a picnic, watch the sunset or tan on, but just wish the water wasn't polluted and filled with jellyfish so people can swim safely. I went on a walking tour to see the street art, explored Little India, went skateboarding at Gurney Bay and stopped by a beach bar - overall a great place with friendly locals and very cheap food if you go to the right places.

The seaside places are far away from the city.
The seaside places are far away from the city. However, the city has its own great attractions, the UNESCO heritage areas are charming. The island is rustic and great for walks and cafes for coffee and meals. Going up Penang Hill and the KLS temple is fun too. Grab taxi is readily available to get you around.

The room was very spacious, really comfortable bed and good air-conditioning. The location was perfect to wander into the centre of George Town. We stayed in George Town for a week and spent our first 3 nights here as we wanted somewhere close to everything. I can imagine this hotel was very grand when it was first built.
Staff: Could not have been nicer!
Room: Spacious, clean, comfortable, wonderful beds, strong AC and fan
Hotel: great pool on the first floor, free water refills, lots of info material on George Town/Penang, beautful old building
Location: perfectly situated on a quiet side street, we we able to walk everywhere
This hotel is great - it was so nice, comfortable & incredibly clean. Good location, being walking distance to a number of locations in George Town. The pool is small & shallow but we had it all to ourselves the times we used it. Would definitely stay again.
Arguably The Best Boutique Hotel and being the 1st Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s property in George Town, Penang. A beautiful historical mansion restored to its full glory, with a very personal touch.
