WE went with one purpose: to see the Monarch Butterflies.
WE went with one purpose: to see the Monarch Butterflies. We were careful to plan our trip to include a sunny day as that is when the Monarchs fly around. If cloudy or overcast they tend to roost in the fir trees and just look like dried leaves. WE had a car so drove to the reserve and took the horses 1/2 way up and walked the rest of the way. The trip was very difficult and I would not recommend it to anyone who has mobility of breathing problems. We were rewarded with seeing thousands of them flying around int he sunshine. An Amazing experience. After the butterflies we returned to our hotel and the next day took it easy, having a massage and going into town to look around.
In town there is a very fine crafts museum that is well worth seeing. We stayed one additional day in hopes of visiting some nearby pueblos. However, we were told there were no pueblos so we just wanders around town for another day. We should have cut the trip to 3 days. Warning: the roads in town are narrow, steep, and cobblestone. VERY narrow and difficult to drive over. Take care.

Valle is a great place, I go often.
Valle is a great place, I go often. The only problem right now is that the whole downtown area is under construction. Be aware of this before you go, I am sure once the construction work is done everything will be fine.

Nice hotel in town square.
Nice hotel in town square. Friendly staff, but be careful, someone went through our bags and took money and headphones. Manger just denied it. Police report made but no results. There is no safe in the rooms.

- A great laidback option to stay in Valle de Bravo for budget travellers. For the price you pay you receive a rooftop terrace with hammocks and a stunning view and a simple breakfast is included (changes each day, quesadillas and molletes were what was on the menu for my stay).
- Well equipped kitchen for self catering.
- Well located with grocery stores, market and dining options nearby.
- Beds have a light and conveniently placed power outlet.
- Lockers available (large enough for valuables but not for locking away bag).
- The hotel is extremely well located, in the center of Valle de Bravo but, at the same time, protected from noises. It is like a little oasis.
- The hotel is very beautiful and comfortable. It has a pool and a jacuzzi on the rooftop.
- Our bedroom was outstanding: the hotel offered us an upgrade without additional coast, which was something above our expectations.
- Staff is full of nice attentions and made our stay in La Casa Rodavento exceptional.
Hotel is gorgeous: room pretty and comfortable, restaurant has an incredible view and delicious food. They have a terrace with Jacuzzi and everyone staying in the hotel can book it and use it free of a charge. Our stay was amazing. Thank you for a great service provided.
To be honest I think pictures are better than reality. However I really liked the stay, service is excelent, room service and breakfast are incredible. We also used the spa and we lovet it.
