Saak Luúm Ruta Puuc, hotel in Sacalum

Saak Luúm Ruta Puuc features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a terrace and restaurant in Sacalum.

In terms of value for money you cannot get better than this in my opinion. We made a stopover after visiting Uxmal and before driving the long route to Bacalar and it exceeded our expectations! We had a very nice room (tip: book the King room with Sofa bed on the 1st floor above the pool) with AC, hammock and terrace and slept great! Also breakfast has great value for money, we received juice, coffee ánd a dish, which was more than in most other places we stayed at. The host also recommended us a place to have dinner, which was necessary because Sacalum doesn't offer too much options in terms of food.

Posada El Jardin, hotel in Sacalum

Teresa is amazing, she gives good recommandation and took care of us! The garden is beautiful and there is maya art in the house. 5 minutes walk From the center/church with a lot of action everynight and an excellent hot chocolate. I’m not sure it’s in the description but there is coffee/tea, pastries and fruits included every morning…we spend 3 nights there, exploring the pyramide around in the morning and swiming in the pool in the afternoon.

Hacienda Uxmal Plantation & Museum, hotel in Sacalum

Just across the street from the Uxmal Pyramids, and a 40 minutes' drive from Merida. This historic resort offers an outdoor pool and a working plantation filled with fruit trees and jogging trails.

Located next to the Uxmal ruins. Only a three minute walk to the entrance. The pools were nice. Easy parking. Note: When we booked, we thought we were staying at the Hacienda Uxmal Plantation and Museum. We were actually put in the Uxmal Lodge which must be a sister hotel. That was fine, because the Uxmal Lodge is closer to the ruins. It makes the reviews confusing though, as some are for the Lodge and some are for the Hacienda which I think is the more upscale hotel.

The city of Sacalum is remote and devoid of all options that tourists expect as reasonable accommodations for travelers. The roads in and out are narrow, winding, filled with "topes," rutted and dangerous, especially at night. I spent 3 days there and found no open restaurants. This small city is a "food desert." I stayed at a great resort that had no restaurant. I wound up traveling 10km at night to either Muna or Ticul just to find local comida. Many times, arriving in Muna and Ticul, I could not buy meals because I was looking to buy outside normal dining hours. I can find no reason to recommend Sacalum.
