It's a standard budget hotel. It was clean but old and not in that vintage charming sort of way. Has a good pool with a waterfall and everything you need to stay for the night. Has a nice little personal veranda. Staff was nice.

At the centre of the Mayan Riveria is Playa del Carmen, a playground for hip Europeans and toned-and-tanned Americans. This resort town showcases the renowned white-sand beaches of the Caribbean Coast along the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Playa del Carmen's powdery white sands are nestled between Cancun to its north, Tulum in the south and the island of Cozumel, 20 km east with its fantastic diving in the nearby Great Maya Reef. Awake from an afternoon nap to take a dip, go snorkelling or deep-sea fishing in the beautiful blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Playa is an easy choice as a holiday destination with its range of hotels, many first-class restaurants and beachside nightclubs. Quinta Avienda, also known as 5th Avenue, is the main tourist hub and shopping district. For a more authentic Mexico experience, venture outside of the centre to a local cenote (sinkhole) or Mayan ruins in Tulum.
Cruise ships dock in nearby Cozumel and traffic people to the mainland arriving at the Playa del Carmen Maritime Terminal. If the glimmering Caribbean waters are full, then Booking.com has a huge number of hotels with an outdoor swimming pool by the beach.

Let’s start with the good: restaurant staff was wonderful, food at the buffets had variety, now our room bathroom faucets practically came out of granite counter into your hand & water sprayed everywhere, mini fridge was stocked with soda but had to beg for water bottles!! Our reservation was for 3 adults every time we asked for towels & washcloths they only gave us 2 extremely frustrating & finally I got sick @3am our lat night most likely from the reused cups everywhere some you could see had been chewed on!! Disgusting

I've been to Playa 4 times as of this review.
I've been to Playa 4 times as of this review. I feel that it's just the perfect beach town to enjoy the gorgeous waters, nature and tropical vibes. There are tons of restaurants and attractions and great food for every price range. I love that it's very walkable and you don't need a car to do most things. This may not be the place for those looking for a more quaint and authentic Mexican experience with old world charm. You'd be better off in Oaxaca or San Miguel de Allende for those purposes. But as a beach destination that is safe, relaxing, convenient and easy to get around with tons of food and shopping options, Playa del Carmen is hard to beat.

Lots of vendors. Yeah, that's basically it.
Lots of vendors. Yeah, that's basically it. Beautiful beaches and then every Mexican trying to rip off tourists by actively approaching them. I don't blame them, not always. They gotta make a living.

Wonderful people and wonderful activities.
Wonderful people and wonderful activities. Dress appropriately for intense sun and be aware that most protected natural areas (reefs, cenotes, etc) do not allow chemical sunscreen or bugspray. Would recommend spacing out activity days and relaxation days so you don't overexhaust but get the best experience.

We felt very safe there.
We felt very safe there. The locals were wonderful and the food everywhere we went was amazing! We of course only used bottled water and the restaurants always offered still or sparkling water. We loved the laid back atmosphere so much in Playa del Carmen that we bought a condo!

50 minute airport ride in the cramped 10 pax van was not a great way to start and end the trip. Note - We booked a private a 16pax bus (there's even a picture of a beautiful mid sized bus) for our party of 10 but no one cared. There's a company in-between booking.com and the company that actually provides the transportation. They all use the same 10 pax vans (they're everywhere) and all blame each other for the confusion. Only thing they offered to do was use 2 of those vans but said we'd have to wait a long time for the second van. Crappy way to start and end the trip and a waste of money. Stay closer to the airport.

Hotel is located in a nice and quiet area at the end of 5th Avenue (the main tourist strip that runs through Playa Del Carmen). It has a cool roof top with a cafe (best guacamole I've had in Mexico so far), sun beds and a pool. Great spot to relax and drink some beers (BYO, they don't sell alcohol). The room was spacious but very basic (pretty much a concrete box). Amazing shower pressure. Very helpful staff.
the location was AMAZING, central and on the beach!!!
we loved how it was right on the beach and the beach club/restuaraunt attached was amazing - best margaritas ever! I've been dreaming about them
The hammock on the balcony was also cool and the swing seats at the bar. The food was great
Lovely, helpful staff - quiet, calm, clean, everything you want in ahotel. We will be back
Very nice and cosy hotel, view on the beach and pool, private little beach. Comfortable room with a sofa and a kitchenette. Nice and spacious bathroom. The hotel is in the heart of Playa del Carmen but amazingly very quiet, all you hear is the sound of the sea... Totally loved my stay there!
Staff great. Facilities in room great ie plug points, usb's, iron, hairdryer you dont have to keep your thumb on to work👍👍👍👍 Generally liked the hotel. Had bad weather for my stay but pool looked good too. And seemed like they tried their best with entertainment despite the weather.
The hotel is close to the main street and beach of playa del carmen, the bed was reasonably comfortable and the room was very big with a kitchen. In combination with free parking (which we could also use before check-in), the price seemed reasonable.
