A mattress pad would allow me to give the room an excellent rating. If going to Molar City, I do recommend California Suites. Really good food at the restaurant and quite affordable. Make sure you ask for a soft bed. Take room 11 if available.

The town of Algodones is not a tourist location, but is a place for people who want to get quality, reasonably priced dental care. There are also optomotrists and pharmacies offering services at bargain prices. Crossing the border from the US (Yuma AZ which is only a few miles away) was easy, although be careful not to return later in the day as it can get very crowded at the border.
The dental services we had were amazing and better than anything we'd experienced in the US or Canada - but we looked carefully at reviews and made sure we had a really good dentist. The locals all spoke English and were extremely helpful and friendly. We also saved a LOT of money, compared to what we would have paid in the US or Canada.
There are street vendors and you can buy Mexican crafts, jewelry, leather etc if you have some extra time - but it really isn't set up for tourism. Do pick up some real vanilla extract at a great price. You can also get some prescription meds without a prescription and at a good price (Viagra anyone?).
Restaurants are in short supply and the town pretty much closes down at 5:00 pm. The ones that are there are well-priced and seem good. It's pretty much all Mexican food (typical tourist Mexican food), so if you're looking for something different, try staying in Yuma and crossing over every day.
I would highly recommend the town if you need dental work, glasses or reasonably priced medicines, but it is not a fun, tourist destination.

I was pleasantly surprised.
I was pleasantly surprised. The locals try to sell everything but that’s ok with me because I really brought a lot of custom /handmade souvenirs for my family. I walked everywhere didn’t need a rental . One stop shop. The people were very polite & humble. I stayed at the California Hotel & suites it was very updated nice & clean the staff went above & beyond for me and I felt safe at the hotel. I was more impressed with the dental work I received from Custom Dental Art(Dr.Christian & Dr.Ruben) very knowledgeable Surgeon/dentist if u ever need implants or root canal try them out 10/10. Also I had my own personal tour guide name David from Custom Dental Art.
Crossing the boarder was a breeze. So many street vendors no shortage of variety of food and goods to purchase. Not to mention there is a grocery store for fresh fruit. Try the Beach Hut (PePe) great pizza and homemade ice cream
Overall 10/10
FYI:I traveled alone from Tn. Stayed 5 days and I can’t wait to return. I felt welcomed and Safe

We have come to Algodones now for 7 years.
We have come to Algodones now for 7 years. I do all my primary dental work there. We have stayed in Yuma and in Algodones. It's easier to drive in, stay in, get the dental work done, eat at two or three great places and then head back to Yuma before then heading back so Western So Ca.

You run the gamut of vendors coming and going out. There are a lot of goods to choose from. The medical services are all conveniently located within blocks of the border entry. The locals greeted us in a friendly and respectful manner.
The place seems to shut down at sundown! We were glad that the hotel we stayed in (California Comfort and Suites) had a restaurant
/bar that stayed open until 10:00

Los Algodones ("Molar City") seems to exist solely for foreigners to get professional services such as dental, optical, prescription drugs and cosmetic surgery.
It's not a resort town, and not a place that anyone would seek out for a holiday! That being said, Los Algodones residents are friendly, the restaurants are good, and it feels safe.
Crossing the border was super quick and easy for us. We walked over in the late afternoon with zero lineup, and we walked back into the USA in late morning, also with zero delay. Not even 30 seconds to cross the border in either direction.

Very helpful and friendly staff on both stays at this property. Perfect location for all professional offices in Los Algodones. Convenient restaurant on site and several other good eateries within a short walk. The rooms are fairly basic, but comfortable, clean and secure. Would stay again.
Breakfast was not included, but the restaurant in the same plaza served a very good breakfast and dinner for a reasonable price. The location was very central and easily walkable to shops and professional buildings. Underground secure parking was very helpful and included in the hotel price.
My wife and I liked the hotel and coffee bar in the mornings. The food and service at the restaurant were very good. We did have a little problem with our room but the staff was able to address it and provided us another room.
The price. Everything was clean. Having the restaurant attached to the hotel is very nice and the food is good and reasonably priced. Had extra storage underneath the bed.
