Hotel Rinconada del Convento, hotel in Izamal

Located in the small town of Izamal, this beautiful Mexican-style hotel features an outdoor swimming pool and views of San Anotnio de Padua Convent. It offers guided tours and free Wi-Fi in the lobby....

The hotel is pretty and is on a nice location in the center of Izamal, and the bed and shower were fine. It is important to know that most of the restaurants (and especially the nice ones like Kinich) close in the late afternoon, around 6PM. Restaurante Los Arcos was still open in the night and is a nice place to get good food! :)

The hotel is in a perfect location right on the main square in Izamal. It was a little hard to find, but once inside, it's a magnificent old colonial style building with a small number of huge bedrooms with decorations which are totally in keeping with the building. Izamal is a lovely place to visit.

Izamal is a lovely place to visit. We had great food there, walk around and visited the pyramid. We also did a carriage ride around the city. Our guide was very informative about all the temples and apparently we stayed in the first hotel ever build in Izamal so we were told.

A gorgeous and photogenic city that feels much smaller than it is. It doesn’t feel touristy at all. There’s a pyramid in the middle of town that you can climb for free. The carriage driver I used was very personable and knowledgeable.

This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan.

This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan. It is clean safe and charming. There is a nice little museum in the square and a small craft market each day. There are romantic tours of the town by horse and carriage. The highlight is Convento de San Antonio. It is painted totally in yellow ( as is the town ) and is a stunning photograph moment.

Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent.

Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent. It's a great town to walk around and it was very surprising to find an amazing Mayan Pyramid just 2 blocks from the town centre, and more amazing to have the whole site to yourself!

I stayed in Izamal for two nights which was the perfect amount of time. There are quite a few Mayan pyramids and chapels scattered throughout the town that are easy to walk to-and-from. The main sight is Convento San Antonio de Padua. Be sure to visit on a Sunday when the church is open.

Izamal is a beautiful town. There is so much rich history. We really wish our stay could have been longer. We highly recommend the horse drawn carriages. We did ours in the evening and our guide was amazing. Marcos was his name and I believe he mainly works in the evenings. Anyway, we cannot wait to come back.

The hotel is good. The most valuable thing is a shower with a good pressure of water ( at last). But we we’re staying at Saturday night and it was a festival on the main square. It was so loud, incredible loud all night from 8 pm till 05-00 am!!! We couldn’t sleep. The room is quiet dark, small, looks like monastery cell. But the garden is beautiful. Personals are friendly. Everything is clean, the bed is big. For one night I think is okay, but for a long time it could be depressive.

Love the hotel concept: once you enter the property from a dusty road, you find yourself in jungles! This helps to escape from exhausting heat, as a bonus - there is also a picturesque pool. You will get either a separate house or a semi-detached house - it’s spacious, plain inside but clean. Breakfast was surprisingly good: first you get a fruit plate, basket of fresh bread, and several great options of “main courses” to choose.

fantastic boutique hotel. lovely welcoming staff. we’ve been travelling around Mexico and this has been our favourite hotel so far. lovely to relax and have a drink by the pool in the afternoon. The breakfast was perfect. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a tranquil relaxing stay in beautiful accomodation. however you really do need a car if you’re staying here as it is quite remote.

The location is very good, it's exactly in the center. We love the vintage style of this hotel, the room is big and very stylish, and you can see the church directly on the opposite side.
