The beauty of the island and the hotel convinced us to give up the next stop in Tulum, nowadays impracticable, and extend our stay here.
We stayed in both the bungalows and the standard rooms and we can assure they are both very nice. The hotel is on the best part of the beach and is a easy 5-10 minute walk via playa from the center of town, full of life with many bar and restaurants even on the way walking, even if the streets are flooded. In addition to the very kind staff you will be in the company of two beautiful cats and a family of raccoons.
A special thanks to Adam, great concierge who helped us excellently during our stay.

Loved the food!! Lots of choices. Walking to the beach - the gorgeous birds and being in on the beach.
The roads do flood when it rains but life goes on.
It was very nice to be able to go to a fancy resort on the beach (we rented a house away from the beach) and pay to use the facilities by buying food and drink there.
Gorgeous sunsets.
Everyone we met was friendly and helpful.

Holbox island didn't meet my expectations at all.
Holbox island didn't meet my expectations at all. They say they're environmentally conscious, but it's a really messy and dirty island. Lots of rubbish everywhere, not clean at all, even stinky areas. I wouldn't go back nor recommended it because it's way too expensive for what it offers.

Personally disappointed with the island.
Personally disappointed with the island. After visiting, Tulum, Bacalar, Cancún, Valladolid, I expected Holbox to be the highlight of the trip but it wasn’t. Beaches are nice, during my week there water was quite dirty not the turquoise clear water I expected but that just depends on when you visit. Prices are higher which is to be expected on an island, overall infrastructure very poor and extremely difficult trying to move a pushchair and 2 babies around. Food quality was generally not to the standard of mainland, lots of packaged foods rather than home made like tortilla chips. All the island was pretty flooded as well so beach was the only route to walk. Taxis overpriced $200 peso for 1km drive I think it expensive so only used taxi for moving the suitcases when coming and leaving. Walked the around most of the island over a week, punta coco was nice

This is a small beautiful island, the streets are made out of sand and there are mostly ATVs for transportation. We walked everywhere. It's a great place if you want to relax and get away from the City.

We travelled to Holbox island in mid-September, which meant that there would be a 20 minute thunderstorm most days, followed by hot sunshine and high humidity. The town is mostly little souvenir shops interspersed with restaurants and little stores. The roads flood with the big storms, but the souped up golf cart taxis were able to transport us around town and back to the hotel with ease. In dryer seasons I'm sure that the roads would be dry and sandy/clay for walking, bicycling, etc. We were able to stroll around town on the sidewalks. The beach road did not flood except for a few big puddles, so easy for walking. They offer several boat tours which I would recommend to see an assortment of birds (bring insect repellant as some of the smaller islands can get mosquitoes). It is a very relaxing island with friendly people. Bring pesos, not dollars! Our hotel, Villa Tiburon, was super fun, really clean, with amazing food and a delightful ambiance. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, and the chef used to work for Norwegian cruise line, and his food was absolutely delicious and very plentiful. The beach was super clean and very relaxing. Not a snorkeling beach unless you waded way out to deeper water. A very safe and friendly hotel and island. If you have orthopedic issues, be sure to ask for a ground floor room. They are also are a dog friendly hotel.

The Hotel was Right across the Beach Which Made it Awed With Taking Great Pictures and
Enjoy The Staring of Such Views.. The Sun Was Perfect for Tanning and Warming the Water. The Water Was Calmed in the Mornings
That it Could be Used for Swimming,Paddle Boarding or Just Floating.. Around Midday The Beach Would Create a Long Sandbar That People Could Walk Long Distance to Mosquito Point.. It Sure Is Paradise!!!..It is Worth Going to Explore the Whole Island.. We Went to Eat at Mandarinas, Las Tortugas Hotel by the Beach.Food is Great. Service is Great As Well and they Also Make a Tradition to Prepare for Beautiful Sunsets..We Also Went to Eat at The Cerve by Downtown. Their Food is Also Great . I Highly Recommended The Yamikashi Special. It has an Explosion of Flavors.. You Can Walk ,Ride a Bicycle or Drive a Golf Cart Which All Three are Enjoyable to Get Around.. The Stay in Blue Holbox was Good.. The Bungalow was Big,Fresh,Clean.. The Bed Was Comfortable with Great Pillows and a Mosquito Net Covered the Bed..It Had A Nice Garden,Pool Area but the Best Was Upfront, The Beach..

A really beautiful small boutique hotel. The rooftop bar is lovely to chill out at and does good cocktails, and the pool area doesn’t have many beds but is really relaxing. Our room was lovely and always very clean. Great shower!
Unlimited free water from the breakfast area open 24-7 was great as saves you having to constantly buy bottles of water.
Hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the beach and the sea is absolutely beautiful!
There is a cute hotel dog called Mia
Hotel Tierra del Mar was an excellent location to spend our time in Holbox island. The hotel is quite, well organized and always clean. Israel and the staff were super hosts taking care of all our needs; they gave us all the right suggestions and they were always willing to help. I liked a lot the spaces, the room and the hammock.
Fabulous boutique hotel. Best part of the beach yet only a 15 minute walk along the beach into the centre of Holbox. Staff were all lovely and professional. The food was good too.
