The staff was very accommodating. The location was excellent. I had a room, with a balcony, facing the street, it was a little noisy. It was very, very clean, even the areas not used by the guests

The people make this place work at a high level. They appear to be family, as a high functioning team often appears to be. But hey, they may be family (high-functioning, not dysfunctional) and that makes it work well. They all seem invested in the success of the hotel and I believe they will achieve their goal. Whenever we had a request (for information, taxis, ice, whatever), they accommodated it. I learned more from the hotel manager (owner?) than I did from reading guide books. Location, location, location. My wife was limited in her mobility due to a surgical operation, but she was able to reach, on foot, all of the spots we hoped to visit. It is close to just about everything. The food is excellent. The breakfast was included and that is a significant addition to your stay. If the hotel fails (and I don't believe it will) the restaurant will succeed.

Beautiful quaint town, that has so much to offer. some beautiful properties, views, and long walks by the lake. Beautiful people who are eager to serve you. Best breakfast at the hotel Plaza Chapala, prepared by Veronica a wonderful cook. Driving to Ajijic, and Jocotepec is worth the trip.

We liked Chapala.
We liked Chapala. In our opinion, it had a better feel than Ajijic, which we stayed in before and visited again this trip. There was a central market right across the road from our lodging and it was a convenient source of fresh fruit and veggies. There was also good fresh bread, cheese and a variety of meat. There were some good restaurants in town but the open air chicken & chips place (50m to the left after exiting the hotel) made us sick, so we couldn't recommend it.

The town of Chapala is a Mexican town not a touristy town like Ajijic. Chapala is laid back. More true Mexican than we expected. Everyone was friendly and we never felt afraid. It was great to watch the local Indian tribes perform since we were there during a Cultural Week. We had an Italian dinner at Romeo and Juiletta's, breakfast and cappuccino at the Paris Restaurant; every meal we had was great. Chapala is only 30 minutes from the Guadalajara airport and an hour or so from the town of Guadalajara. We really enjoyed our short time there and hope to go back soon for longer.

A friendly working Mexican town - fewer tourists.
A friendly working Mexican town - fewer tourists. Loved the bits of local artistry - the serpent painted steps are magnificent. Very affordable. Nice malecon where you can see the best sunsets on Lake Chapala.

The Malacon is the place to be.
The Malacon is the place to be. Everything that you need is there. We ate at the hotel we stayed in, but there are countless restaurants to enjoy on the malacon and also a short walk from there. Getting around: Once you arrive, walking is the best option, because everything is that close it makes so much sense.

I really liked the true Mexican atmosphere for Christmas Eve. Not at all touristy. Didn't see a single event that seemed designed for visitors. It was the "way it is" and visitors can join in. The market was great and I
had the traditional tamales and punch as I walked along the streets.
The cathedral was full, so I stood outside with others and joined in the hand shake during the service. All in all is was a great way to experience another culture for Navidad. Wish I could have stayed longer.

The location was perfect and very safe and walkable for our excursions. The room was perfectly clean and amenities suitable for our stay.
What can I say about the staff -they were all extremely helpful and friendly. I really appreciate that they arranged a ride for us to the airport with pick up at 5:15 AM.
The beds were very comfortable.
I will definitely stay there next time. I visit Chapala.
Good place to stay in central Chapala. A little bit expensive (as for Mexican standards) but deserves its price. Very friendly and helpful owner. Fully equipped apartment with everything you need. Walking distance from harbour.
