I loved my stay at this place. The lovely couple picked me up from the train station. While I speak next to no spanish, we were able to communicate with Google Translate. The breakfast tasted amazing, as did the dinner. They have Starlink, so the internet was incredibly fast - I think the best I've experienced in Mexico.

Very nice hotel with a fantastic view and lovely staff. It is a kind of resort and the rooms are spread across the hillside, what you should know, if you have any kind of problems with walking. They drive you to your room by car, but the superior rooms with the fantastic canyon view can only be reached via steps.
Breakfast is very rich. Tours can be booked at the reception. The staff is very friendly and keen to answer every question and support whenever they can.

This place is very remote, and it's gorgeous. I booked a room and mostly had the whole house to myself except when two other tourists came, and we became friends. The house is right in nature, so secluded and private. The sunset was amazing. Free coffee and hot chocolate, and water filter for drinking water. Front porch. Laundry lines hung in the back to use if you wash clothes. Kitchen well-equipped for cooking. There's a cute living room with a TV and book case. The host Alessandra who let me in was very nice and asked if I needed anything on WhatsApp, but gave me a lot of space. A sweet dog visited me on the last day from somewhere, so I gave him some water.

Cabanas los portales was 5 kms to the adventure park which is the only attraction in the area. There was no public transport to it. It was certainly worth spending 5 hours there, taking the cable car and considering a guided hike.
The woman running the place was very kind
My very poor Spanish was a huge barrier
