Everything was perfect, second time staying here and we actually had my brother transfer to this hotel after their hotels lighting and water were shut down. They loved it.

Vanessa is an excellent host, the resort is very well run and kept. It is quiet, and the atmosphere is very relaxing yet family friendly. A nice breakfast is included and dinner is available by request. The beach, the lagoon, the town, and a Super Chedraui are all nearby. The whole experience was wonderful.

We did not stay at the Panther since it was overbooked (I reserved more than a month in advance) so they transferred us to another facility. Within minutes we were transferred again to vacant unknown mold ridden apartment that did not have hot running water, cable tv was not paid as if it was a vacant property under same management. After one night, the next morning the electricity was shut off due to the “owner” not paying 2 months of electricity. When I questioned the person shutting off the electricity he indicated that even if paid it would take 72 hours for it to be turned back on. We were transferred again to the second facility to spend our last night. My wife and I got sick at the mold infested apartment and had to cut short our vacation.

Nice and basic hostel. The private room was simple but spacious. The kitchen was nicely equipped. They offer laundry service onsite which is convenient.

Beautiful beach but very busy with snorkelling tours.
Beautiful beach but very busy with snorkelling tours. You have to pay to enter the beach and there are lots of hotels along the front - it feels kind of snooty. There is no village to speak of - most people stay in their hotels to eat so the centre lacks atmosphere in the evenings. There are many more authentic Mexican places to visit on the coast - I would come to Akumal fo the day but stay in somewhere with more vibes: we much preferred Puerto Morelos (and that beach is stunning too).

I would not recommend Akumal as a destination.
I would not recommend Akumal as a destination. Too many tourists, and there are too many 'service providers' trying to sell you a tour, being your guide, or something else that you don't need, or would be overpaying for. The only fairly authentic beach place we encountered was the Xcacel beach. Almost all of the rest of the beach either belong to resorts or private properties. Headed off to El Cuyo, which is a totally different place.

Akumal is very nice. we loved the adult section.
Akumal is very nice. we loved the adult section. Some of the staff especially Guadalupe who is the hostess/greeter at the Kutuk buffet restaurant is not friendly to brown skinned guest and this is very unfortunate. If you go here please don't be afraid or hesitate to let guest services know about how you are being treated by any staff member.

I think it should be clearly stated that the ocean swimming and snorkeling on the property is quite limited unless you want to pay for a guide and wear a life jacket. The areas where paid guides take people are often crowded.
No groceries stores in the area, only 7-11 type shops with processed foods.
Breakfast (continental) was quite good. To upgrade to egg dishes was way overpriced.
Very few dinner options available. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. No evening dining at the hotel itself.
If you are not an ocean swimmer or snorkeler but just want to swim in a pool or lay on the beach this place would work for you.

Amazing food, a'la carte restaurants, drinks and Service. Hotel Beach very nice located. Stuff do really great job there. They make sure you have all you need all the time. What also made our vacation special was entartaiment team! Great thanks for Victor for amazing morning joga and also Anahi, Valentino, Gustavo and others for lot of fun activities. Their Energy and Creativity for sure makes this place special. Hotel itself is beautifull place but great People working there is for sure the main reason for us to comeback there soon!!!!
David and Dan were very helpful and friendly. They have lived in Akumal for over 20 years so have extensive local knowledge. The apartment is extremely comfortable exceeding our expectations. We loved birdwatching and lounging on the rooftop and sitting in their beautiful garden. The fabulous lagoon, Yalku, is a few minutes walk and Akumal beach nearby. We stayed for 17 relaxing days. Wonderful.
Beautiful location and spectacular view from the room. Spacious room. Quiet, small hotel for those looking to avoid the gaudy resort complexes.Tasty breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
As other reviews have mentioned, the hotel is a bit dated, but we didn't mind so long as it was clean.
Safe, comfortable, beautiful beaches and easy access. It was our first all inclusive resort, we felt you did a great job! It was a great "home base" to explore the region from. Your staff is amazing - friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable!
