Podgorica exceeded our expectations.
Podgorica exceeded our expectations.
After watching videos online we thought it was a small village/city with only gravel roads...how wrong were we.
Food & drink was extremely well priced, top rated restaurants in the area charging less than €50 for 3 course meals for 2...you really can't complain.
We stayed right opposite the main party hub of Podgorica in a lovely fully furnished apartment that was run by Marko, an absolute gent & legend. The bars & restaurants were full of live music and people on any given night, Mon/Tues/Wed included.
Our 3 top food picks:
Hemera - Hotel/Bar/Restaurant, great atmosphere and great food.
Green & Protein - Health Freaks will fall in love.
Goddo - Cheesecake Ice Cream & Free chocolate dipped waffles...sign me up.
You can walk almost everywhere in Podgorica from the parks, churches and shops to the football stadium and taxis to the go karting centar are approx €10.
The ONLY thing we would avoid on our next stay is going in the heart of summer as the 35-38 degree heat during the day was a little too much but we kind of deserve that for not researching beforehand.
Avoid nothing, explore everything.

Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, offers a pleasant blend of urban convenience and natural beauty. The city has well-maintained walking paths, such as those found in King’s Park, perfect for a relaxing stroll or a leisurely evening walk. Public transportation is reliable, making it easy to access the city center and other attractions. The Morača River, which flows through Podgorica, is a clean and scenic spot to unwind, especially during the summer when the riverside areas are popular for relaxation and picnicking.

Small but beautiful capital city nestled amongst the mountains nearby, it doesn't actually feel like a capital at all!
There are some great shopping and restaurant areas and we found a great outdoor pop up cocktail bar across a bridge called Mocktail, which was in a green area with great views!
Definately worth a visit and the bus station was comfortable to book tickets from here to many other exciting places.

Podgorica is not a tourist hotspot but an interesting experience. A small town. The historic center is just two streets, the clock tower and a mosque. We visited the Podgorica Museum with an interesting exhibit on the royal family a century ago and an art gallery. We also visited the Kuslevova kuća museum, an old house of a dentist but with various exhibitions and very friendly staff. There are some nice modern restuarants and bars around Ivana Milutinovića in Novi Grad. Also on Tig Republika.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the wonderfully warm and friendly hosts. It was wonderful to experience local hospitality. The location is in the heart of Podgorica suburbia with a semi-rural setting, and a very short and pleasant drive to the airport through quiet back roads (which was our main reason for booking the stay). The accommodation was very neat and tidy, and had air-con which is very much needed in June.
Perfect location, in the very heart of Podgorica city center and all sights are in a walkable distance. There is a possibility to park your car free of charge, but it depends on time you'll try to do that. A flat is relatively small, but comfortable enough and is equipped according to hotel standard. There is Wi-Fi, also small balcony. Check-in was easy, the representative arrived on time as agreed in advance.
Very clean and comfortable hotel. Spacious and well equipped room and a bathroom. Everything looks new and modern. The personnel is very kind and professional. There are restaurants bars and stores nearby. It takes about 15 minutes drive to Podgorica Airport so it is a convenient place to stay overnight if needed for flight connection. The hotel price is reasonable so it is a good value of money.
The hotel is located in the city centre, right at one of the most popular streets full of cafes restaurants. The breakfast (included) was amazing, but be prepared to receive a huge portion. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom really nice and clean. Also, the staff is amazing and very helpful: getting an invoice or a taxi to the airport was not a problem at all!
