The apartment is in a small, lively, neighbourhood street with a mosque at the end. It's on the edge of the town and less than a 15-minute walk to the Ain Asserdoun spring and a lovely park with fountains and waterfalls. Beni Mellal Castle is another short climb, well worth it for the views. Walking down to the town is easy enough; walking back up depends on your legs. Small taxis are plentiful. Mehdi is a very attentive and welcoming host and quick to respond if something is needed, like a gas bottle changing, for example. Wifi was good.
Beni Mellal is cute enough. The town seems chill and gives the right kind of Moroccan vibes. Since we went during Ramadan, eating wasn't much of a highlight: in the daylight hours we were forced to accept McDonald's drive-thru before heading out on a day trip, but that night we had pizza at Davinci Restaurant, which was surprisingly quite good (particularly if you're familiar with pizza in Morocco) and overall well managed.
The region is even more spectacular: drive over the mountain range to Bin El Ouidane (1 hour) and continue to Ouzoud Falls (1 hour more) via Azilal (about midway in between). Gorgeous terrain!

Perfect place to stop for a night while driving from Rabat to Marrakech. Good location, easy to find, the room is a bit small though. Hotel has a car park and a cafe. Breakfast is very good, you get real coffee, freshly prepared by a barista. Personnel are very friendly.
What I was very impressed is their concept of using solar energy. They have a water heating system on the roof, directly heated with sunshine and solar panels for electricity. I could imagine they are self sufficient.
Hotel has underground parking for motorbikes, which is excellent.
Owner then helped us arrange getting a broken motorbike back to the port, to get it (and the owner, home). Above and beyond the call, thank you.
