Agadir is very safe and the people are the friendliest and kindest! Sooo much to do so you will never be bored. Perfect for solo travellers or families or couples. It really has everything! Taxis are so cheap just make sure and ask for price or check if they have a meter. The food is soo cheap too, if you want a drink with dinner double check the place serves booze. Paradise valley trip is amazing, as is the kasbah climb or the soul el had is magical! Be prepared to haggle its great fun and they expect it! Weather in Jan was very hot so do wear protection and lastly be prepared to feel special because the people will give you random compliments and shower you with kindness!

We ( family of 4) stayed in an apartment in a suburb of Agadir. Résidence Stylia 2 Avenue Laayoune, Agadir, 80000, Morocco. We found the locals to be friendly and never encountered any issues. Our host was magnificent and was very accommodating. Highly recommend the apartment ( https://www.booking.com/Share-Se0lh3E). We found the beach area a bit pricey and preferred to shop and eat in the area where we were staying. Visited the Agadir Medina, a small flea market and tourist attraction. Overpriced and not much substance unfortunately. Took the cable car to the fort above Agadir, highly recommend, breathtaking views and a very nice atmosphere. Visited Crocoparc, was an excellent place, highly recommend. Unique, never visited such a place anywhere in the world. As with a lot of countries, the Taxi drivers often overcharge If you're a tourist. I recommend to get an idea of the cost before entering a taxi and decide the fare beforehand. Most are open to haggling and is the custom there so they quote you an inflated price, expecting you to bring them down. The small red taxis are metered and as long as the driver uses the meter you won't be overcharged. However our experience was also mixed with the metered taxis, some used the meters others didn't. Also some took unnecessary detours to increase the fare. These taxis take a maximum of 3 passengers. Overall we liked Agadir, was a nice experience staying in an area with locals. Eat the local food and shopped in the local shops. People are friendly, welcoming and happy to help. Unlike Marrakech, a lot less touristy and suitable for families. As Muslims it was ideal for us as there weren't any nightclubs, bars and general debauchery where we stayed.

The weather in January! Lots to do in and around the city.
The weather in January! Lots to do in and around the city.
The food is great, especially the tagines - but the best food is really cooked by local families. The fish 'restaurants' in Souk el Had are not for the faint hearted - the whole place is friendly, but pushy. One or two bad actors can spoil it for the rest of the traders unfortunately.
Lots of fast food, very reasonably priced. The city is still a work in progress, so some pavements aren't more than rubble - but plentiful taxis whizz you about the town.
Beware in the 'touristy' areas, some of the cab drivers try it on. You should be paying 10 - 20 MaD max (rates go up at night).
The Marina area is lovely and up-market with security keeping the hawkers at bay.
Taxi drivers said don't bother July - August as the place is rammed and it's hot, but cloudy! (Didn't see one of those fluffy things in January)
They have just opened the interior of the hilltop kasbah, but there are still bodies possibly buried there since 1960 - stick to the outside and views tbh.

Agadir is a fantastic place for a city break and a beach holiday. The sun shines even in January, so perfect for sunbathing. Watersports, Sahara excursions, walks within the city to the Oufella offer a wide choice to gratify your needs.

Good food for an all inclusive stay
Very friendly and helpful hotel staff
It is a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. But unlike a lot of other hotels in Morocco at that price range it is actually clean, doesn’t smell and is not noisy. Good value for money!
