I enjoyed my trip to Mirissa overall. The beach was beautiful.
Randiya Sea View Hotel was, of three accomodations there, my favourite. Staff were so extremely helpful (even after I wasn’t a guest anymore - especially with transport!). The food was fantastic, if you needed it prepared slightly diff entry they were accommodating with this and their breakfast buffet was the best way to start the way ever! The rooms were beautiful and the location is great - shops close by, the beach across the road. So many choices, there’s no way you can’t be satisfied.
If you need a ride there are tuk tuks all over the place. Be prepared to hassle with the prices they want to charge. If you’re obviously a tourist they’ll (any vendor) will charge you (as my tour guide referred to) the skin colour tax!
I only say my trip was too long due getting sick so missing activities which I’d wanted to do. You also need to pick carefully the companies you book activities with. My worst experiences was Nathalia cruises with whale watching cruises. Stay away.

Busy village with loads of traffic and stores. Main highway goes through.
To reach the beach you have to go through restaurants and bars, so a bit inconvienient, but fine.
On main beach they release all new hatchef turtles when it gets dark.

First time visit to Marissa so was open minded about what to expect. The beach and swimming was great. Our impression is that Marissa is a beach resort for the backpacker cohort of tourists, there is nothing else here other than the beach.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Marissa, and I can honestly say it was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the incredible vibe of the place. The energy is relaxed, welcoming, and vibrant all at once. Whether you’re looking to unwind or explore, Marissa offers the perfect balance.
The food was absolutely delicious (we dined at W&D Restaurant a few times in the raw) – fresh, flavorful, and full of variety. I had some of the best Sri Lankan dishes here (fav rice and curry), with local ingredients that were both authentic and mouthwatering. Every meal felt like a special experience, especially when enjoyed with a view of the beautiful beach.
Speaking of the beach, wow! The shoreline in Marissa is absolutely stunning. Crystal-clear water, soft sand, and the most perfect sunsets – it’s the kind of place where you could easily spend all day by the sea, swimming, sunbathing, or just soaking in the natural beauty.
But what truly made my stay unforgettable were the people. The locals in Marissa are so warm, friendly, and genuinely happy to share their culture and hospitality. It felt like I was embraced by the community from the moment I arrived.
All in all, Marissa has everything you could want in a tropical getaway – gorgeous beaches, incredible food, amazing people, and an atmosphere that just makes you feel at home. If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable destination, I can't recommend Marissa enough. I will definitely be back! We stayed in the Beach & Bliss Marissa hotel nearby, best stay ever!

I took a long walk on the beach later in the evening, and it felt like paradise. There were many foreigners and visitors enjoying themselves and swimming in the sea. I noticed a lot of solo female travelers walking along the beach without any issues. The local beach boys were friendly, and there were plenty of beachside restaurants. The beach was clean and had no unpleasant smells.

It's only $20 per night, and it was worth the money paid. It's a simple home. Small room, fan was available (no AC or hot water in my room, other rooms have it) Bathroom was ok. A kitchen was available to heat up food, make coffee, fridge to keep stuff, etc.
Bare minimum amenities. Don't expect hotel like facilities or cleanliness. But we had a comfortable stay.
Very close to Mirissa beach, 2 min walk only. A couple of restaurants, spa are available nearby.
Hotel was lovely and just as we expected. The location was great next to Coconut Tree Hill and it was easy to get a tuk tuk on the main road outside if we didn't fancy walking 10 mins to Mirissa Beach.
Breakfast was lovely with enough to choose from. The pool was nice to relax and have a beer after being out all day.
Amazing unique location right by the sea where you can see sea turtles and the sunset with a nice swimming pool. The villa is very well decorated and the rooms as well. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this hotel for a quiet stay nearby Mirissa beach but away from the fuss.
The location was right near the Turtle Beach at Mirissa the staffs behavior was very good and so was the breakfast! Overall had a great stay! Will recommend this hotel if you are on a tight budget!!!
staff are very helpful and welcoming. Sea view room, one minute to beach. Room is spacious, clean and very functional. We recommend this hotel to whoever come to Mirissa.
