Really everything. The location is superb with a view of the lake, 5 mn walking to town, yet it is totally calm and quiet.
The staff is superb. Very pleasant, helpful, and responds to requests immediately with a smile.
My room was large, modern, and had a balcony to just sit and look at the lake, the Temple of the Tooth and the Queen's Bath, the view of the town at night was beautiful.
A bit surreal for me, but monkeys were sitting on neighborly roofs and on my balcony at breakfast.
Last but not least, the food is excellent; they have a very good chef. Breakfast was one of the best I had in Sri Lanka. Tasty and copious; great way to start the day. The staff is very accommodating. Because I had an early tour, the staff had coffee ready for me at 5am with a carry out snack.
Finally, a good word for the manager who arranged safe transportation to Polonnaruwa and was so pro-active in so many other ways. I definitely recommend this hotel.

When I Booked on Booking.com,the description did not match the actual room I received upon checking in instead of a pleasant viwe.I saw unattractive roofs tops everywhere .I urge you to provide accurate descriptions. My time and money were wasted and I will never go back to Mahaweli Reach Hotel .The Entrance was very dark and although the staff was friendly ,they were Powerless to Help..please provide accurate information and pictures on the website .

It all depends on the time you go there.
It all depends on the time you go there. It's a town that starts work early and ends work even earlier so the town is busy from 7am - 7pm. With one-way roads the traffic during peak time is a real mood killer. But once you get to your destination and you are at a nice hotel the weather is very welcoming.

Tips to travel - lot of mangoes, banana on the way. for south indian food - Eat at Sri Balaji Dosa who is better than the other indian restaurants. Murugan Temple a must visit. Royal Botanical Gardens a must visit. Chill weather from evening. Mornings are usually warmer and hot mostly. Try the Kandy Rivers Edge Resort (approx 5 kms from central kandy) to have a pleasant stay with extremely good hospitality and clean rooms with nice bf, lunch

Kandy has some interesting attractions from the spice garden...
Kandy has some interesting attractions from the spice garden to the big buddha to the cultural dance show all the way to an excellent modern movie theater. Do beware of leeches in the wet grass (which is everywhere). The tuktuk prices vary (use pickme app for an estimate of what it could cost, but beware it's only an estimate, the actual time will be charged). The buses are great value, if you can navigate them. There are KFC, pizza Hutt and domino's, but you can get good kottu pretty much anywhere.

The location is quite close to the main Kandy town. Easy walk. The steepest portion is from the main road to the hotel, about 2 minutes. The entire walk uphill from town was 15 minutes at a leisurely pace. We stayed four nights, four breakfasts. The first two breakfasts were omlette, toast, pancakes and fruits with coffee. Then we had a buffet style breakfasts with local Sri Lankan dishes, which were very good. It also offered toast, pancakes. The staff who looked after the breakfast, Bob, was very helpful and attentive but not intrusive.
This was a peaceful and beautiful corner in busy Kandy. The room was spacious, with huge terrace, lots of windows, perfect view. The bathroom very comfortable and modern. The hotel is brand new with beautiful details. The breakfast was the best for us during our long journey in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan specialities, with a lot of explanation about local cuisine, ingredients. The hotel owner was super helpful, we got a lot of good ideas for our journey. The location is perfect, just above busy Kandy, on the hillside, 5 mins from Lake.
If you are going to Kandy you have to stay here! The location is perfect for basing yourself in the centre with most places just a short walk away. The rooms are modern and very clean which had been sanitized before our stay. This is a family run hotel and the owner (I forgot her name so sorry) is probably one of the nicest people we met during our time in Sri Lanka, she was so helpful and friendly and just great to talk to in general!
Newly hotel. Rooms are very comfortable, and bathrooms are very neat. The manager and workers are also good . It's cheaper than other hotels and very close to the kandy town.View is very nice. But no free breakfast in the hotel.
Such a beautiful little hotel tucked away but close enough to walk into the town of Kandy - rooms are lovely, great showers, nothing too much trouble, dinner was superb as was breakfast- very happy we found this place.
