Vantage hills Haputale, hotel in Haputale

Set in Haputale, 44 km from Gregory Lake, Vantage hills Haputale offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

Our room had breathtaking views over the hills. It felt almost like being in a plane looking down on the land. The staff were also so friendly and kind. They treated us to a wonderful New Years Day feast, which they didn’t have to do, but it was very kind and welcome. It was also a close 10 minute walk to the train station. It balanced a peaceful and quiet location, just minutes from the busy lively commercial town. We liked Haputale a lot, which felt much more local and real than Ella, which has given itself over to tourism.

    The views were amazing!

The views were amazing! I spent a month at the Bel View Guest House home stay. I took the extra option of dinners there. The breakfasts were included in the price. Great for someone looking for a quiet retreat to relax, that is not hot like the coastal areas. The hosts will gladly help to refer you to places depending on what you like. A must visit place in Haputale id the Adisham Bungalow. It is a very old, well manicured, rock monastery at the top of a mountain. It is run by the St. Benedict monks. They have a little shop that sells the juices, marmalade and jams that they sell there. None of the products have any additives or chemicals and the tastiness shows that.

Haputale is a small, sleepy Sri Lankan town - as opposed to a tourist town - in a beautiful hill country setting. It is much quieter and much cheaper to stay in than the tourist hot-spots of Nuwara Eliya or Ella, with a range of locally-run guesthouses, rooms and restaurants. The sleepy train station connects it with Colombo, Kandy and Ella, buses pass through and tuk-tuks can take you to nearby waterfalls or the iconic Lipton's Seat from which the stroll down through tea fields is stunning. There are several Olives restaurants in Haputale - Viewpoint was our favourite both for food and a stunning view. If you want a party then avoid Haputale as you'd be bored.

The trip to Lipton's seat takes about 5 hours round trip but is amazing...much better experience than the tour book suggested. An absolute delight was the opportunity to have tea and excellent snacks while in c the clouds at the peak...for an amazingly low price. Views from our balcony were spectacular and the food - both dinner and breakfast - was top notch

Haputale is no substitute for Ella it's an extra stop.

Haputale is no substitute for Ella it's an extra stop. Haputale has fabulous views right in town and from your lodge, but there is a draught of travellers hang out cafés, while in Ella, you got to hike for the views, the town is packed with cafés and restaurants that makes you want to stay longer. Lodges in Haputale doesn't seem to put people together for shared transport to Horton plains anymore. Almost nobody is going there. I got a very good deal on transport there, but bailed in the gate and went back, due to extortionate entrance fees that added up to $49 for 1 person! - for a 3h hike!!!! - Lipton seat is well worth it though. Go early in the day before the clouds are covering it. The ride up takes you through beautiful tea plantations as well.

If you want to experience Sri Lanka we definitely recommend staying in Haputale. It was very refreshing to get away from the tourist spots. There are so many things to do in Haputale like waterfalls, the Lipton seat View Point and tea factory, train tour, tempels to only name a view things and Overall kind and helpful people..

It's a lovely and unique area for trekking and hiking.

It's a lovely and unique area for trekking and hiking. The weather is wonderful, it's a place where the weather changes 6 times a day. Beautiful. Bambarakanda Falls, Diyaluma Falls, Upper Diyaluma, Haputale Mountain, Lipton's Seat, and Horton Plains are nearby places. Adhisham's Bungalow is another unique experience to see the wildlife in night.

I booked my stay only a couple of days before, and totally lucked out. The hotel is glorious with panoramic views (the view from the bath was to die for!). A true sanctuary in the mountains, but also with great access to explore the surrounding area if you like. Mike and Ru were brilliant hosts, truly went above and beyond with special effort to connect with all of their guests. Some of the best food I've had the pleasure of eating ever (special shout to Ru's coconut cake!).

I had the best experience of my entire trip through Sri Lanka at Leisure Mount. The staff was always there to help, food was good and they gave me a free room upgrade. The view from the room is one of the best views I’ve ever had in a hotel and the room was awesome. The manager Hashan was always there to give advise and help arranging transportation and other things. I would advise everyone to definitely stay there :)

Very quiet, clean, fantastic owners with good english, helpful. They pick from the train station. Very good homemade food. The owner has a tuktuk, and for very reasonable prices offers siteseeing, visiting tea factory, tea plantations and neighbourhood. If someone is looking for quiet, non touristic area, very romantic and green, best place to go.

We loved the amazing view of this hotel! (best hotel view in 2 weeks). The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good and plentiful and dinner was also great (a lot better than a restaurant we went to in Haputale). Having dinner on spot was actually the best option. We recommend this place 100%
